Edits to Teri Ann Linn are accurate and legitimate edit

All photos used are the property of Teri Ann Linn. The posting of these photos is not a copyright violation. Ontopgg (talk) 02:46, 23 June 2013 (UTC)ontopggReply

You should have discussed that at the article's talk page rather than continue to edit war over it. —C.Fred (talk) 02:49, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
It was not my intention to edit war. I was only desiring to update her wikipedia page at her request. What makes you think the current revision is more accurate than what I attempted to add to it? Perhaps if you reviewed the changes I made and realized that they are adding to the breadth of the article in wholly legitimate ways, you would call off the dogs who seem determined to undermine my efforts to enhance Wikipedia. Ontopgg (talk) 02:55, 23 June 2013 (UTC)ontopggReply
You were warned about edit warring, acknowledged it, and yet kept at it. Further, you admitted a conflict of interest with the subject, which puts you under an even heavier burden of backing your edits up with secondary sources. —C.Fred (talk) 03:16, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Respectfully, c.fred, "edit warring" was a term unfamiliar to me until today. I interviewed the Primary source of information for all of my edits, i.e. Ms. Linn. Ontopgg (talk) 03:21, 23 June 2013 (UTC)ontopggReply
You should have read the messages you were sent before deleting them, then! Also, you should probably read the policy WP:No original research on why we don't allow first-hand knowledge and interviews as sources for articles. —C.Fred (talk) 14:53, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
I certainly now agree. When the article was revised by Hullaballoo Wolfowitz, it was difficult for me to accept that someone who knew nothing about the subject matter would be allowed to indiscriminately litter the article with inaccuracies. Ontopgg (talk) 15:04, 23 June 2013 (UTC)ontopggReply

Request reason:

The information I provided was accurate and correct. Some users are disputing the copyright of certain photos of Ms. Linn. I removed a magazine cover photo, but all other photos are owned by Teri Ann Linn and have been published at her request. Please unblock me. I will not use copyrighted photos in the future (and neve have before - in fact, I'm a relatively new wikipedia contributor). Thank you

Decline reason:

In reviewing your request it appears that you do not fully understand the reasons for the block. Your insistence that "The information I provided was accurate and correct." indicates to me that there is a touch of WP:IDHT involved. My view is strengthened by your comment below. Therefore I must regretfully decline your unblock request. — Ched :  ?  05:49, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hi, I am Dianna and I am an administrator on this wiki. The reason you were stopped from editing is because Wikipedia has strict guidelines for content, particularly for biographies of living people. For legal reasons, we are very strict about the quality of the sources and the type of content that is permitted. Virtually all the content added to our biographies of living persons must be sourced to reliable secondary sources such as magazines, newspapers, or books. First-hand information provided by the subject of the article is not suitable for inclusion in our encyclopedia. If you have a close connection to the subject of the article, you should not be editing it at all - that's what we call a conflict of interest. People who are close to the subject matter may not be able to edit in a neutrally worded manner, which is a requirement for us to maintain high standards and encyclopedic content. Copying content such as reviews from Amazon and photos that you find on other websites is against copyright law. Such content has to be removed. That is why your recent additions were removed by patrollers, the photos you uploaded were deleted, and your editing privileges were revoked. -- Diannaa (talk) 04:06, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Now the article is back to a wholly inaccurate state edit

Dianaa – I understand your concerns about my edits, however, the reversion back to a many-years-old revision has resulted in a number of inaccuracies. Ontopgg (talk) 04:18, 23 June 2013 (UTC)ontopggReply

Well, let's talk about the situation and go in small steps. Also, if our discussions here are fruitful, I'll be willing to advocate for having your account unblocked.
Please pick one inaccuracy out of the article and answer these three questions about it:
  1. What is the inaccuracy in the article as it reads now?
  2. What is the correct information?
  3. What published reliable source can I (or any other editor) consult to verify the correct information?
I look forward to your reply and to joining with you in dialogue about the article. —C.Fred (talk) 13:11, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

OK. Thank you. Let's start at the top with the most basic: 1) Date of birth is not April 2, 1961. 2) It is April, 7, 1961. 3) Source: imDB article http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0513018/ Ontopgg (talk) 14:45, 23 June 2013 (UTC)ontopggReply

Generally, IMDb is avoided as a source because it can be edited by users. However, given that the date isn't sourced otherwise at all, better using that as a source than nothing. Changing. —C.Fred (talk) 14:54, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Here's another pretty significant one: 1) imDB reference is incorrect – Her surname is indicated as "Lynn" 2) Her surname is "Linn" 3) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teri_Ann_Linn or imDB article http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0513018/ Ontopgg (talk) 15:13, 23 June 2013 (UTC)ontopggReply

Oy, I can't believe I missed that when I copied the template. Fixed. —C.Fred (talk) 15:19, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

How about some of the changes that were made: 1) An article in People magazine contains the phrase..."no problem creating bitchiness...." 2) Another quote from the same article says: "Characters who get to act nasty are ones that become very popular in daytime television." 3) Source: http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20096248,00.html

Yes, that quote is cited to the article. What's the issue? —C.Fred (talk) 15:32, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Both items are quotes from the article and both items say (basically) the same thing. However, the second quote is a bit less offensive. Why one over the other? Ontopgg (talk) 15:38, 23 June 2013 (UTC)ontopggReply

More innaccuracies: 1) Ms. Linn did not play Volleyball at Pepperdine. 2) Ms. Linn was a Tennis player. 3) Source: http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20096248,00.html Ontopgg (talk) 15:41, 23 June 2013 (UTC)ontopggReply

1) The line that states: "Linn's first appearance on national TV was with the Disney Mouseketeers on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show as an uncredited youth" is also inaccurate 2) Ms Linn was a "credited guest" on April 28, 1982. 3) Source: Paley Center for Media – http://www.paleycenter.org/collection/item/?q=linn&f=all&c=all&advanced=1&p=1&item=B:45084 Ontopgg (talk) 20:06, 23 June 2013 (UTC)ontopggReply

Request reason:

I would like a second chance to be a contributor to wikipedia now that I am fully aware of the rules and the consequences for breaking them. At the request of c.fred, I have provided references for four inaccuracies that need correction. Some of these have been implemented through the work of c.fred, others have not been addressed. Thank you for your consideration of my request. I won't let this happen again. Ontopgg (talk) 20:31, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Accept reason:

Your unblock request has been reviewed and the block has been lifted. Diannaa (talk) 23:22, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ontopgg. Your block has now been lifted. Please be aware that the days are gone where people can add material to Wikipedia without citing high-quality references. This is especially true of our biographies of living people. And please don't upload any more images unless you yourself own the copyright. Please take the time to follow some of the links at the top of the page – up there by the cookies – to find out more about how to contribute effectively to the encyclopedia. Anytime you want to attract the attention of experienced editors, just place a {{help me}} template on this talk page and someone will come along to offer assistance. You can also ask questions at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, where volunteers are standing by to assist. Good luck, and happy editing. – Diannaa (talk) 23:22, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
