CSD tags

You were definitely doing the right thing, yeah - you can mark something for speedy deletion, as you did, using the {{db}} tag with a reason why it needs deleting. However, it can be easier and clearer if you use the specific tags that are listed at the bottom of the criteria for speedy deletion page, which also lists all the reasons (such as G10, attack page) that a page may be speedy deleted.
