Speedy deletion of Bible Quiz Fellowship

edit

A tag has been placed on Bible Quiz Fellowship requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. It is my opinion that BQF is not notable enough for a stand-alone article, nor are any of the other Bible Quiz ministries listed on the main article. If you try to start a stand-alone article again, it probably will be deleted again. It is best to leave the BQF section as a part of the main article. As for the "For more information..." line, language such as this is highly discouraged, as it constitutes a "call to action." The link to the BQF site in general should instead be placed in the external links section. If there is a place on the website which supports your assertion of the number of participating teams, change the URL that is currently between the ref tags to point to that page. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 21:43, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
With all due respect, this is the same old, tired argument used that those who think every subject on earth deserves its own article at Wikipedia. The fact is that Wikipedia has a well-developed set of notability standards, to keep Wikipedia from turning into a meaningless junk box about every little subject of even the slightest significance, and BQF does not meet tose standards in my opinion (nor do any of the other organizations listed). That is why the BQF should be merged into the main Bible Quiz article. This organization in no way rises above the others. If anything, your organization seems to be surpassed in terms of notability and number of participants by several of the other organizations listed — in other words, those organizations would merit their own articles before BQF. Apparently another editor and a separate administrator both feel the same way, as your article has been speedy-deleted. I strongly suggest you limit your efforts to the BQF section of the main article, being careful not to give BQF undue weight over the other organizations. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 18:24, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
That's the problem. There rarely are enough reliable, independent suorces to verify the information for these organizations, including the one I am involved with. You're new here, so you should know that the debate over what is notable enough for inclusion and what is not is hotly debated daily at Wikipedia. The debate has even been the subject of stories by international news media. I suggest you read some of the many articles about notability standards here. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 02:08, 16 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
