Proper use of talk pages edit

Regarding your most recient edit to Talk:Vincent van Gogh diff where you replaced your original post with a new reply; please note that standard policy is to leave the original post in place and simply add an indented reply following it. As such, I reverted you edit and then added back your reply. Please do not consider this a warning, but rather simply an informational post. We all go though a learn curve. Glad to have you here as one of the many editors who add value to Wikipedia. Thanks for your participation. Dbiel (Talk) 03:00, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proper use of the minor edit button edit

Regarding your marking the following edit as minor diff; talk page posts should not be marked as minor. Many editor have used the "do not display minor edits" option for the watchlist which would then hide your edit from them. Please see WP:MINOR for the proper use of the minor edit box. Again, please consider this as only and informational post. After 9,000 edits I am still learn things that I am doing wrong. Thanks again for your participation. Dbiel (Talk) 03:23, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I should add that your marking the following edit diff minor is good use of the feature, especially with the informative edit summary that you included. Thanks again for your participation Dbiel (Talk) 03:32, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Zoomify script edit

Thank you! I attempted to make a composite from MOMA zoomify files, and had upwards of 200 files open at once... I didn't known where to begin. Also, I attempted to download files from the Hermitage by Bittorent, but after no progress was made in the first 1/2 hour I gave up. The next day Insight Broadband sent me a warning about continuously using too much bandwidth, and my connection speed, I found, had slowed to mere 500 kbs... I restarted the modem and the connection seems normal, however I have no intention of trying it again... Lithoderm 03:51, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here is a sample output of the script:

I can confirm that is works exactly as advertized. 4649 06:36, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Err, excuse a computer novice, but how do I get the script to run? I downloaded Python, PIL, and the zoomify script. Then I clicked on the script... the terminal opened for a split second, then nothing. So I moved the script to the "scripts" folder of Python, started python, and then clicked on the script from that directory. Still nothing. I'm on XP right now, just so you know (my Kubuntu box is out of commission after a botched upgrade to Intrepid Ibex, but that's a matter for the Ubuntu forums....). Lithoderm 17:16, 24 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
You could try to boot with Ubuntu Live-CD and run this script from it. Sorry, I do not have Windows handy, cannot help. 4649 05:34, 3 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Eh, don't worry about it. I'll get it figured out... Be careful that you don't upload any more high resolution fair use images like Chicks-from-avignon.jpg; our FU policy requires us to minimize the size of FU images. The FU status of that image is disputed, however, so it will stay for now. Thanks, Lithoderm 06:02, 3 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for finding a way to make File:Chicks-from-avignon.jpg‎ PDUS. I wonder if we can make similar thing with File:Matisse-The-Dessert-Harmony-in-Red-Henri-1908-fast.jpg: the only question is when it was first published. 4649 04:42, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Oh, it was largely the work of Ty. I'll look into the Matisse. Lithoderm 05:38, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
