Hopf conjecture edit

Hi Oliver, I stumbled upon your paragraph in this article talking about the fact that the two Hopfs are unrelated and might have never met. Even though the former seems to be true, I doubt the latter, as the two were students of Erhard Schmidt around the same time: https://www.genealogy.math.ndsu.nodak.edu/id.php?id=7361 10:38, 6 March 2020 Oboofyu (talk)

Hi Oboofyu, thanks! That is a valuable information and might indeed increase the probability that the two Hopfs have met. Oliverknill (talk)

Raphael Maklouf edit

Hi Oliver. I was interested to see that you'd edited Raphael Maklouf in the past. Do you have any sources on him? I am not disputing your edits - rather, it's just that I haven't found much about him by way of sources and I wondered if you knew where there is something useful. Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 10:33, 19 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Raphael Maklouf was a first cousin of my wife. He was father was the oldest son in my wifes mothers family. I don't know much more about him then what is on that Wiki page.

Ah right, thank you. Is not was, I rather think ... he was in good form when we had lunch with him a month or two ago, and a family member saw him much more recently. A splendid and interesting chap. Small world, huh? ... your wife and mine are, I think, rather distant relatives! Cheers DBaK (talk) 19:43, 18 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
