Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

"Binomial authority=Vinn", maybe?

edit

Hi Dr Vinn. As you can see from

and a lot of the other articles I have started, I like writing Wikipedia biographies of biologists.
Could you possibly give an example of a (in Wikipedia jargon "Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Reliable source)" about you that is not from you, any person associated with you, or any institute associated with you?

Notification of automated file description generation

edit

Your upload of File:Anticalyptraea calyptrata.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Self-published material

edit

Thank you, but we can't use self-published sources as references, see WP:SPS. In any case, you have a conflict of interest so the appropriate course for any material that meets our criteria at WP:VERIFY and WP:RS would be to propose it on the talk page, see WP:COI. I'd appreciate it if you'd revert your earlier addtions of self-published work. Thanks. Dougweller (talk) 18:44, 7 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Olev Vinn: "Self-published expert sources may be considered reliable when produced by an established expert on the subject matter, whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications" I am a well known author of ISI WEB OF SCIENCE publications (N=63, h=14) in the field of biological evolution and natural sciences in general.

As an expert in the field, your contributions are welcome. WP:SELFCITE has additional guidelines for citing your own research. Cheers, --Animalparty-- (talk) 20:35, 14 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

A page you started (Anoigmaichnus) has been reviewed!

edit

Thanks for creating Anoigmaichnus, Olev Vinn!

Wikipedia editor Animalparty just reviewed your page, and wrote this note for you:

You might further define "bioclaustrations" to improve clarity since it does not appear to be covered in trace fossil or Ichnotaxon. Cheers.

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
