Hartford, Cheshire edit

Thanks for editing this article and the one on Northwich. I took the liberty of re-arranging the material in the above article so that it conforms more in structure to the guidelines as given in WP:UKCITIES (don't be put off with the "cities" bit of the title, it is meant to be inclusive of all settlements, and may well have its name changed in the future to be less misleading in this respect.) I also added some extra information and included some more references (the Youngs book is looked upon as a major reliable source for these matters, and Vision of Britain uses it extensively though it does make transcription errors at time, which is why I prefer to use the Youngs book directly, as I am fortunate to own a copy.) I hope you will agree that the article looks a bit better, and I hope you keep up the good work.

Have you thought of joining the Cheshire Wikiproject? We are a group of editors whose common aim is to work together to improve all coverage on wikipedia of Cheshire and Cheshire-related articles. It may be worth considering. Best wishes.  DDStretch  (talk) 17:28, 24 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Cheshire East edit

Hi, I noticed that you had been making some changes for the change to Cheshire East. Can I suggest that the information on the pre April 2009 situation be moved into the history section of these articles so that it is not lost. Keith D (talk) 23:53, 4 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi Keith. Thanks for your comments, and I hope I haven't upset anyone. My priority has been to correct statements like "xxx is in the Borough of Macclesfield", and "xxx is divided into three wards for borough council elections", which are no longer true and could mislead people looking for information on the new councils. If the parish already has a "Governance" section then I've tried to note the changes there, but with around 400 pages in the county to fix (and apparently just me working on it), I haven't attempted to create fresh sections to explain what the situation was before Cheshire East/West came into being (although the links from the new unitary authority pages should make that clear) — Old Wittonian (talk) 09:44, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
