Speedy deletion of Martin Meylin edit

A tag has been placed on Martin Meylin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. Fforest Fawr edit

You've classed Fforest Fawr under woodlands & forests of Wales - understandable but incorrect. Fforest Fawr is not and never was a forest or wood , the term refers to the former royal hunting forest where 'forest' simply means an area set aside for hunting. I fact Fforest fawr is one of the least wooded areas of Wales. It might however be worth classifying it under ranges of hills I guess Notice Fforest fach has been treated similarly - the same comments apply though not a range so much as a single hill in this case!.

Brad Schoenfeld edit

Notability of Brad Schoenfeld edit

A tag has been placed on Brad Schoenfeld requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bearian (talk) 22:49, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:HilltopBaptistSchoolLogo.png) edit

Thanks for uploading File:HilltopBaptistSchoolLogo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:02, 3 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Elin Ek.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Elin Ek.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — neuro(talk)(review) 15:24, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Youkickmydog1999animation.png edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Youkickmydog1999animation.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. J Milburn (talk) 11:04, 3 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Jack Blum edit

I noticed that you started to try to fix this page. I have read it twice now and it seems to me to be more of a personal promotional page, written by Jack Blum, rather than through a third party lens. Under the circumstances, I am wondering if the page is appropriate for Wikipedia in its current form, and perhaps should be sidelined until a third party is prepared to relaunch it. I don't know what else to do beyond expressing my sentiments here.

Tropic World edit

This is Belugaboy535136, author of the Tropic World article. Why did you merge the two? I worked for weeks getting it ready, and a lot of people worked for months editing it to get to the point where it was. Regards, Belugaboy535136 (talk) 15:40, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I merged it into the Brookfield Zoo article because Tropic World is an exhibit at the zoo and the article lacked reliable third-party sources. (The zoo's magazine is considered a primary source. Articles in works like the Chicago Tribune or magazines like Time or Newsweek are third-party sources.) You can undo my merge and roll back to the article to the edit before I merged it by visiting the article's History page, selecting a particular article version to edit, and saving it. If you do that, I *strongly* suggest you add categories and appropriate references to it, as once it's flagged with maintenance tags other contributors may come and propose the article be deleted or merged as well. I do think that Tropic World, edited for brevity and with appropriate references, would be a valuable section of the Brookfield Zoo article. --Oddharmonic (talk) 03:17, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

You are now a Reviewer edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 23:53, 15 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Peter Yates Wiki edit

Dear Oddharmonic - I'm not quite sure on what grounds you have changed the Wiki entry for "Peter Yates, artist and architect" - and removed "artist"

There are currently exhibitions of his art in England. It would be nice if he was labeled in Wiki accurately

Can you please restore it to exactly how it was or provide reason for changing it ?

Thank you

Jolyon Yates 13:11, 3 August 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jolyonyates (talkcontribs)

I changed the article title to be in line with the consensus to keep disambiguating tags for people to a single word whenever possible. (This is addressed in more detail at WP:QUALIFIER.) Labeling of an article by subjects (in your case, as an architect and artist) is done in the categories located at the end of the article. --Oddharmonic (talk) 20:45, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Dear Oddharmonic - Why did you choose architect and not artist ? You can not know that at this time there is significant interest in Peter Yates as an artist. What about changing the chapters around ? There appears to be a new chapter called "death and afterward" - a title that is very odd - which contains only the date of death. I see no advantage in this change. This change is also not logged in the change notes. I realise the need to edit articles in order to make them clearer and more correct, but these changes appear to me to make the article less clear and less correct With Kind Regards, Jolyon —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jolyonyates (talkcontribs) 21:11, 4 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Defunct Company--Not Defunct edit

Please do not modify an article about a company, to call it defunct, without first attempting to contact the organization. One phone call or email is all it would have taken to verify that the company was still in operation. This is a bit like categorizing a singer on tour as a dead musician.

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.248.4.35 (talk) 18:49, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you disagree with how another editor has categorized an article, you can edit that page without having to contact the editor you disagree with. I personally feel that contacting an organization instead of using published sources for information violates the policy of no original research, but you are, of course, entitled to your opinion. In the future, I encourage you to create a Wikipedia account so you can track your contributions and establish credibility. --Oddharmonic (talk) 01:43, 18 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
You made the changes without citing any sources, and considering there are no published sources stating that the company in question is no longer in business, I personally believe that "original research" would be better than blindly labeling a company as defunct. Of course, it would be best not to make the change at all, as there is nothing to cite which could support the change you made. Also note that a quick search would have yielded a multitude of results showing that the company was and is still very much in operation. You were contacted in an effort to prevent you from making the same mistake in the future, not to correct the original error. My credibility, or lack of such as the case may be, is not relevant in this situation. Facts are facts.
Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.248.4.35 (talk) 17:34, 20 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Paula Danziger, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New York (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Proposed deletion of Accuro Healthcare Solutions edit

The article Accuro Healthcare Solutions has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

pure business anouncement

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
