Deleting Abdel Moneim El Guindi

Dear Sir/Madame, I actually want the page to be deleted. I have done a spelling mistakes and the new page is at Abdel Moneim El-Guindi. I did not know about the {{db-self}} before. Sorry for the typo. Abdowiki (talk) 18:47, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

A note about the speedy deletion on "Retarded Policeman"

FYI: Back in March you did a speedy delete on an entry titled "Retarded policeman" (not my work, BTW! :). In case it gets created again, I thought I'd mention that if it was speedily deleted as nonsense, there may be a mistake. "Retarded Policeman" is the name of an Internet series with 16 episodes so far, seven of which have over 1 million views each, and I've definitely seen it mentioned/referred to in reliable-source profiles of the people involved. (Can't find right now, after 10-15 minutes hunting; it's hard to Google the RSs for this one because they often avoid citing the show's title.)

From your comment on the deletion, it appears that whoever created it did some inappropriate moves to mess with your deletion, which certainly suggests that whatever they created would be shoddy enough to merit deletion. A re-creation of the article would likely qualify for a speedy delete on the basis of content if people fail to do their sourcing to support notability by WP standards, vs. just saying "But it's got all those views!" (See this link from TV Week blogger Daisy Whitney, not that that blog necessarily counts for purposes of WP:V or WP:RS.) Not defending either the show or the specific article you deleted, just making sure it's not misidentified as someone playing around if a serious attempt is made.

Best to you, from Lawikitejana (talk) 18:42, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

You seem to have gotten the name wrong - according to the deletion log of that title, the page was deleted once, in November 07, by Angusmclellan. You created the article, it was tagged as an A7 (non-important web content) speedy deletion candidate. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:25, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
I just found what you meant. You were talking about Retarded policeman (note that on Wikipedia, the case of all letters but the first matters). It was pure vandalism (having nothing to do with moves - that's just an automatic summary which was available in {{db-vandalism}} at the time. The page was about a policeman, not an Internet series. This was the only edit made by Zac McBlack. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:31, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. I declined that speedy because I could find no reference to the discussion or the previously deleted page. Neither this title, nor the place it had been moved from, had a record of previous deletions. For future reference, if tagging a G4 where the old page had a different title, please always link the old discussion. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 14:35, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Multiple Wives for Muslim Men than what is for Muslim Women in Islamic Paradise

Hi there. You declined a Speedy Delete tag on Multiple Wives for Muslim Men than what is for Muslim Women in Islamic Paradise under WP:CSD#G1 (hoax). At the AfD it has been determined that the article is actually a copyvio and falls under WP:CSD#G12. I have tagged the article for speedy deletion, despite the fact that there is an open AfD. I wouldn't normally do this, as I know it is frowned upon, but thought that copyvios were probably an exception to the rule! -- JediLofty UserTalk 13:15, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

No need to notify me - I'm in favor of deleting this page (see my vote). I didn't say it's not speedy deletable - only that I didn't have evidence of such as of when I declined the speedy deletion. If new evidence comes to light, claiming the page is a copyvio, then my declining the speedy has no affect on the new request. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 13:18, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
I realise you were in favour of deleting. My message to you here was more a "Look it does qualify for speedy, can you delete it for me 'cause I can't!" rather than a "Yah! Boo! You're wrong! It should be deleted" kind of thing! ;-) Cheers. -- JediLofty UserTalk 13:28, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

South Wales Hardcore music scene

Hello, I'm not sure that this page belongs on Wikipedia and i'm unsure of the correct tag to place on the page to get it reviewd for deletion. Sorry.

My reasons are. The page was called South Wales Music, but deals with only a small genre of teenage Hardcore Punk bands in South Wales so I renamed it South Wales Hardcore music scene. But then I was thinking that South Wales is not notable for its hardcore Punk bands and I think that keeping this article opens the door to every county/city in the world having a page dedicated to its Hardcore Punk bands. I just don't think it is very encyclopaedic! Thanks for your time. Harris578 (talk) 07:52, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure it's speedy material. You may want to try {{db|reason}} to see if some admin will speedy delete it, or else try PROD/AfD. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:31, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks I will give it a go. Harris578 (talk) 11:40, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Deletion notifications

Hi Od Mishehu! I noticed that you have nominated the article List of Egged bus lines for deletion. Please inform the creator of the article next time you nominate an article for deletion. By not doing so, you are basically removing an almost-certain keep vote, and therefore attempting to tilt the results in your favor, which is bad form. Informing other major editors of the article is also good practice, although not as important. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 18:13, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Nonsumqualiseram

An article about the Welsh Foundation was recently deleted and blocked prior to allowing me the opportunity to provide justification for the article. The article was initially deleted because it was deemed to "not assert notability." I disagree with this opinion as this organization is the first and only 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is funded entirely by proceeds of a Charitable Lottery Pool (CLP). This unique approach to fund-raising is significant because it is not currently utilized by any other public charity. Please reconsider the deletion of this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nonsumqualiseram (talkcontribs) 03:32, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

If you think you can write a reasonable article about the subject, please do as follows:
  1. Write the article at User:Nonsumqualiseram/Welsh Foundation.
  2. Once the article is good enough to be moved to its proper location as an article, request that an admin move it for you.
Please note that the last 2 deletions were specifically article deletions - not applicable in your workspace. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 04:32, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Twinkle and CSD

I've recently started using Twinkle and am noticing that the CSD tags it places don't quite match its summaries. I have a couple of questions about the criteria that I'd like to ask you.

  • For a category such as albums, TV episodes, etc., does any CSD apply, or is the appropriate response PROD only?
  • A7, which refers to "An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.)", appeared to be appropriate on an article about a band. Why does it not apply?

Thanks for your help and soft touch as I'm getting used to what new tools are doing under the hood! --chrylis (talk) 07:16, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

  1. For a category such as albums, TV episodes, etc., there is no CSD.
  2. About the speedy which I declined, can you give me more detail? I've declined so many A7s, I don't know what you mean. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 07:18, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Septimus Orion --chrylis (talk) 07:22, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm not convinced the article is about a band. It's about a project. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 07:27, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
It's very hard to tell (and the lack of clarity is a reason that it screamed self-promotion to me). The fact that the title of the album is CAGED suggests strongly that "Septimus Orion" is the group behind it... but both the article and the Web site are so buzzword-heavy that there's room for doubt. If it survives PROD, it's going to need a complete rewrite. --chrylis (talk) 07:37, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Pink Panther

Whoever tagged it for deletion, probably didn't even bother reading the article in full. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 07:31, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Ai Kobayashi notability

Kobayashi's a fairly well-known Japanese voice actress and singer, and a very well-known model. She was the subject of a number of slightly skeezy but nevertheless bestselling (in Japan) photobooks as a teenager. She has an IMDB entry with 10 credits. "Ai Kobayashi" returns ~37k hits on Google. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.237.96.97 (talk) 21:31, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Question regarding Anatolia_Academy

I know schools are considered notable by default, a Google search for "Anatolia Academy for Studies and Reserach" and "Anatolia Academy" results in nothing. I was hoping I could tag it for a speedy deletion since it can't even be verified to exist. Or do I have to tag it for PROD? It just seems a bit excessive, but either way I do know that rules are rules.  :) Bvlax2005 (talk) 10:22, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

No google hits isn't enough for speedy deletion. No claim to importance/significance is a cause for speedy deletion of articles about real people, groups of real people, or web content, but not for articles on other subjects - see WP:CSD#A7. Schools are explicitly excluded from CSD A7. I've placed a PROD on the article. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 10:29, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Template:S-fic

A tag has been placed on Template:S-fic, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

The template is no longer in use and its use is contrary to the MoS.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Template:S-fic|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bazj (talk) 13:47, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of AfricAid entry

I believe that a nonprofit that has generated $500,000 in 7 years and whose founder has received awards is noteworthy. I am hoping to have this version of the entry published but maybe I need more links?

AfricAid is a nonprofit organization formed in 2001 to support girls’ education in Africa. It was founded by Ashley Shuyler who sought to help provide young women in Tanzania with the opportunities afforded by education. Since its inception, AfricAid has raised close to $500,000 in support of its mission.

Your first "article" about it was deleted as an advertisement, regardless of the organization's own importance. The second attempt isn't going to be speedy deleted, although someone may start a discussion on whether or not to keep the article. Until and unless such a discussion is started (if it is, the page will be tagged accordingly and you will probably be notified), there is no way that page will be deleted. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 05:17, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion template drafts question

Hi. :) The drafts for the speedy deletions templates to which you contributed are up at TfD. General thought is that deletion of these is uncontroversial, since attribution is given in edit summary at the actual templates, but due to concerns raised by another admin at WT:CSD, I want to be certain of this prior to deleting them. Happy-Melon and Coppertwig have both consented to (or actually proposed :D) deletion. You contributed substantially to these three: Template:Db-a1/new, Template:Db-i1/new, Template:Db-i4/new. If you have no objection tho these deletions, I'll be happy to take care of them. The TfD conversation is here. Thanks for any input you can offer. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:02, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Chris Clark (politician)

What in this article indicates importance, enough so that it is escapes a speedy? It is obvious to me that the author is writing about and promoting himself and his candidacy — he graduated from Stanford in 2005 and his user ID is "Cardinal05". Duh! Even if this weren't the case, he is merely a candidate for a local city council. Hasn't won any office as of yet, and winning this one still wouldn't make him notable. Since you have declined the speedy, I've been forced to take this through the laborious AFD process. May I suggest a reading of WP:POLITICIAN? Thank you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 14:47, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

As a local candidate who appeared in a major local paper, I think that there is enough potential for notability that the page shouldn't be speedied. Note that significance is lower than notability. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 04:15, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

User talk:Pilot expert

Bizarre. When I looked at it I was convinced it was an article talk page that had been blanked, and as the main page was redlinked it was a simple G8. Can't honestly see why I thought it was an article.... must be time for a break.... Pedro :  Chat  10:30, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

Greetings, can I get my talkpage completely deleted as well? How do I do that? I recently removed all comments on my talkpage and I had my userpage deleted after I read about how to do so from this advice to another person's question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080710022117AAJfkay I want my talkpage's history removed also in my old username. Thanks for clearing User:Dbrowell's page

I (unfortunately) used Twinkle to file the Sock request; I removed the warnings that TW added to Dbrowell's and to the IP's talk page, after the checkuser was turned down, but didn't think to check Dbrowell's user page. I'll be more careful with this in the future. BTW, the IP User_talk:69.105.112.249 also engaged in vandalism, so most likely it was a different person anyway. User:-The Bold Guy-\Sandbox1

I have been blocked for 6 months after having been accused of having been linked to possible sockpuppeteers. After returning little more then a week ago, I immediately restored my userpage and user talk page. I began editing once again. I was looking for creating some articles. I planned on making an article I used to have in my sandbox, at User:-The Bold Guy-\Sandbox1. When I scrolled over my now restored userpage, I noticed my sandbox now was a redlink. I clicked on it and saw you where the one who deleted it, Old Misehu. Will you now restore it again, and if you cannot, then will you make sure you'll ask some other editor to do so? Thanks in advanche, -The Bold Guy- (talk) 14:34, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Did you perhaps miss the comment? -The Bold Guy- (talk) 16:50, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Th original title of that page, User:-The Bold Guy-\Sandbox1, was wrong. The page is now located at the correct place, User:-The Bold Guy-/Sandbox1. What I deleted wasn't the content/history of that page, merely the page which would bring one to the new location, known as a "redirect". See here for a record of the move. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 04:12, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I did not know. Thanks for clearifying this to me. -The Bold Guy- (talk) 07:11, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Your welcome. I believe that one major problem here on Wikipedia is when one user takes a legitimate action, and an other user believes it to be problematic. One important thing which can be done to solve such problems is explaining things when these misunderstandings seem to show up. In this case, an other user had already fixed the link, but later actions had caused you not to know this fact. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 07:22, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

That is why I always inform people on their talk pages before taking action. Aswell as inform users on an articles talk page of which changes I have done in my edits to the article. This way, no false material will be added. I also think everybody should work this way, and use edit summaries. I am very happy to be back after half a year of being blocked and I'll try to my best effords not to get into trouble again. I'm still not contend with the grounds on which I have been blocked, but I'll lay down with it now. Btw, do you perhaps feel for it to review a certain article I nominated for GA-class? I'm not sure whether you review articles, if you do, consider reviewing Dorus Rijkers. Thanks in advanche, -The Bold Guy- (talk) 09:01, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
