Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:P1010082 edited.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 11:20, 4 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welcome!

Hello, Obstacle, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome!

Unfortunately, you seem to have jumped right into an Edit war. Please be aware that it is considered very bad form to repeatedly revert other editors' contributions, and editors who do that habitually or who do it more than three times in 24 hours on one article may get blocked from editing. The particular sentence in Thessaloniki, and our treatment of the subject of Macedonia in general, is the result of a huge amount of prior discussion, so it might be better for you to make yourself acquainted with the status quo before attempting big changes in that field. Thanks, Fut.Perf. 12:01, 4 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

P.S. By the way, for the image warning above, assuming this is a photo of yourself, just go and add {{GFDL-self}} to the image page and you'll be okay. Fut.Perf. 12:01, 4 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. I'm afraid you've now broken the three-revert rule, so in theory someone could now come and block you any time, but I guess they won't do that as you are a "newbie". But please. As a lot of pages here on wiki explain, Macedonia is both an independent country and a subdivision of Greece. We can talk about how best to disambiguate which of the two is mentioned, but your insistence not to mention it at at that point in the article really makes no sense. Can you please go to the talk page Talk:Thessaloniki and argue your case there, instead of reverting? Fut.Perf. 13:25, 4 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your reply. I don't think anybody here has a problem with the Republic of Macedonia being the independent state that it is. But the issue about the Thessaloniki article wasn't related to the Republic at all, but to the Greek province, which just happens to share the same name. Our established practice here on Wikipedia is to refer to both entities with the name they use for themselves, and to just add whatever qualifier is necessary for disambiguation. Thus, "the Greek region of Macedonia" etc. is perfectly fine, in those context where that province is what's being talked about. Don't you agree with that? -- By the way, if you want to see how intensely these things have been discussed, just go and have a look at this draft styleguide. You're welcome. For guides to contributing, I think the links in the welcome message above are generally the best places to start. One piece of advice for the moment: please remember to sign your comments on talk pages (not in articles of course), using four tildes (~~~~). It will turn automatically into a signature with your name and a timestamp.
If you're interested specifically in contributing to Balkan-related topics, you might want to check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Bulgaria and Wikipedia:WikiProject Greece, they have some good ideas on useful things to do here and there. Apart from that, just be BOLD and edit away! :-) (But if you can foresee your edits might be contentious, better make sure you use the article talk pages and seek consensus through discussion.)
