Welcome! edit

Hello, Obrienemilyh, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Notes edit

Hi - here are my notes:

Be careful about removing statements that say things like "almost all work on diets has been done in the southeastern part of their range", unless you have sourcing that contradicts this. Most of the sourcing looks like it covers the turtles in that portion of the US, so it's better to err on the side of caution. The Wetland Institute covers the diet in a general sense, but there's no way to really tell if that's based on the research that was conducted on the southeastern turtles.

Also, this is a study so it's seen as a primary source for any conclusions or research produced by it. You'd need secondary, independent sourcing that verifies the findings and puts the content into larger context. While this training module covers medicine topics, the same premise applies to studies, especially when it comes to science. WP:MEDRS goes over the same information in a bit more detail.
