Speedy deletion nomination of File:Logo representation of The Edge TV.png edit

A tag has been placed on File:Logo representation of The Edge TV.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. MTV Hits NZ edit

Hello Nzpalmyboy,

I have reverted your edits to the MTV Hits New Zealand article and wanted to communicate with you directly as to why I did so. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and as such articles should not only include information about an event or object's current form, but also its past. By removing all the history behind the network you have made it appear that the channel was only first launched in 2011 and was never available in Australia. Although I have reverted your edits I have gone through and made edits which align with what you had (the addition of #Hits to the programming section & the addition of a N.Z. launch date and Aust. close date in the InfoBox).

One edit which I find noteworthy is the channels official website. When I opened the one you included in your edits (www.mtvhits.co.nz) the link was dead. I found the same was true of the prior Australian website (with it reverting to the main MTV website) so I removed it from both the InfoBox and the External Links section.

In addition, your edit where you stated

MTV Hits changed its programming format in December 2013 after MTV Hits Australia no longer aired within New Zealand. The channel formally focused on viewer interaction with shows such as UControl, MyPix and #HITS. MTV Hits now airs chart-topping music videos 24 hours, 7 days a week. Themed-music shows and countdown themed-shows air throughout the week.

sounds rather like an advertisement which Wikipedia is opposed to (see WP:NOTADVERTISING). As such, I felt the introductory line of the Lead section more than sufficiently expressed what you stated above.

Unfortunately I live in Australia so there is one of your edits which I could not decide whether or not to include amongst my edits and thought the best idea would be to ask you directly as to what you intended to communicate and go from there. You retitled the heading MTV Hits Shows to MTV Hits Former Shows. Do you mean that all those shows listed are no longer aired on MTV Hits? If not, are there some shows which continue to air and others which do not? If it is the latter, I believe the best option would be to rename the section as Shows and than include two subheadings - Current Shows and Former Shows. If you could organise the list into current and former shows that would be great.

Thanks,

Forbesy 777 (talk) 06:05, 29 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I just remembered another one of your edits which I reverted which I forgot to mention. You changed MTV Hits' sister channel from MTV Australia to MTV New Zealand. MTV NZ closed in 2010 and was replaced with a simulcast of MTV Australia. As such, the more accurate channel to list is the Australian one. Thanks, Forbesy 777 (talk) 06:09, 29 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello again,
Sorry for not replying to your message sooner - the holiday period is always hectic and doesn't leave much time for Wikipedia. As MTV Hits is the same channel in both Australia and New Zealand, with the only difference being the advertisements, I do not believe that two separate pages are required. It is easier and neater just to have the one page for both countries with the added information to distinguish its history in both countries (e.g. the addition of a NZ launch date and Aust. close date in the InfoBox). If you disagree with me please feel free to start a discussion on the Talk:MTV Hits New Zealand page so others can have their input on the matter.
Happy new years,

File:The Edge Logo.jpg edit

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:16, 27 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
