We have been blocked by user Edgar181 for using Wikipedia for "advertising purposes". However, we have brought to the attention of the Wikipedia editors (specifically raeky T) the corrections we wished to make to the Hakeem Jeffries and Jeff Aubry wiki pages. When we were making initial edits we were new to wikipedia editing and unaware of the "peacockery and weasel words" rule. Now that we have changed the wording and only included factual data, we would like to be unblocked. We now understand the rules of editing and will only make corrections of factual data with citations.

With Assemblyman Aubry, the existing photo was not Assemblyman Aubry (there is a picture of two men and a dog). We changed the photo to a photo of the Assemblyman and also updated his biography. With Assemblyman Jeffries, the photo that was there was not of good quality so we replaced it with a higher resolution photo. We also updated his bio and added some external links. If the issue is that we need more citation, then that's fine; all of the information that we provided is on their official websites and some of it is also on the official NYS Assembly website. We didn't realize that you were trying to contact us, which is why it may appear that we were being disruptive. Again, we are new users. Please accept our apologies. The issues are, (pages you need to read), you obviously have a conflict of interest, so your direct editing of these articles is highly discouraged. These articles are biographies of living people, and as such there are strict verifiability and reliable source concerns. Using his campaign website is considered a primary source, which is not allowed, we require reliable secondary sources (news articles, etc..) to backup ANY claim. There was also HEAVY peacock and weasel terms used throughout those edits, which are again highly discouraged, specifically in BLP's. Another concern is that you consistently ignored warnings, advice and violated our three revert policy, thus you got banned. And finally the two images you uploaded (File:Hakeem_Jeffries.JPG and File:Jeffrion Aubry.JPG) are apparent copyright violations, to keep them from being deleted you need to provide explicit written permission from the stated authors/copyright holders that they release them under your chosen license, directions for that is found here. With respect to the conflict of interest, that’s fair and we can suggest to someone else to update the pages, however, the photo is NOT of Assemblyman Aubry. At minimum, I would like to change the photo.

If using their campaign websites are not allowed, the information that has been provided is also on the NYS Assembly website and can be sourced there.

As I mentioned in my first post, because we are new users and editors of Wikipedia, we were unaware that you were attempting to reach us because we were doing something wrong. I apologized for that before and I apologize again. I will replace both assemblymen’s photos with their official state photo since those photos are free for public use.

To add more, each time we reverted you we left messages in the edit history, which you would see if you saw the Page History, likewise I warned you several times on your talk page above about issues. A big thing we have here at Wikipedia is our neutral point of view policy, the wording and a lot of the information you was trying to add was in conflict with that neutral view. I suggest you make a list of which parts of the articles you think is wrong and needs reworded, and suggest the edits here and we'll address them. If you have news articles, and other third-party sources about these gentlemen, we can use them also as sources to improve the article. But we can't just bulk-copy their campaign profiles onto wikipedia and remain neutral. — raekyT 23:10, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

A fair wiki policy

Once we figured out what was happening, I responded (and even how to respond was a learning process for us). Some of the information in Assemblyman Jeffries' wiki page in particular is factually questionable. We will gather all of the information, cite the proper sources and send to you for verification. Proposed Edits Hakeem Jeffries

Please find below the edits proposed for the Hakeem Jeffries Wiki page. Our main concern is that these pages accurately reflect the person as well as the times. We were mostly concerned with the out-of-date information contain on the assemblyman's page and thus many of our edits reflect that concern. Again, we have bolded proposed edits.

      • We would like to start by thanking you for making the corrections we have suggested and being patient with this editing process. However, we still have some things we would like to correct. In regards to the 421 bill, the cigarette tax bill, and the toy bill, all of these legislative acts are outdated. The assembly session only lasts two years, these bills are from Jeffries' first legislative session (he is now in his third). True, these bills had much significance at the time (2006), but now they are outdated and no longer accurately represent the Assemblyman's accomplishments and contributions. (For example, the cigarette tax is now nullified by a newer and more expansive tax). The whole paragraph about the 421 bill was not written by us (it was part of the original wiki page) and we're fine with removing it. We propose adding sentences about the more relevant project reclaim. The "nanny bills" and the same-sex marriage bills mentioned in the additional topics page seem outdated, as they are also from previous legislative sessions. Please let us know if you need help finding sources or composing information about Project Reclaim or Jeffries' other bills. Thanks again for your help and patience.         • As you well know, things an elected official does in the past is relevant today, specifically if they're unpopular. I'm aware that as someone working on his campaign that you'd like some of the more controversial topics to be removed, but we don't whitewash articles for public image. Since the cigarette tax bill was heavily covered by the media, it's something that's important and should stay. As for the other controversial things, gay-marriage, ban on fats, sugar, etc.. Unless I can find sufficient news coverage to backup those currently not passed and probably never will pass bills, they don't have to remain. • Hakeem Jeffries (born 1970) is the Assemblyman in New York's 57th Assembly District. A qualified supporter of Bruce Ratner's controversial Atlantic Yards project, he defeated Bill Batson-a former union organizer and opponent of the planned Forest City Ratner development in downtown Brooklyn-by a margin of 64%-25% in September 2006. [1] This information is outdated and thus irrelevant (its from four years ago). The project itself has been pruned down and doesn’t resemble the hot topic that it was when it was first introduced. We suggest deleting the whole second sentence about the Atlantic Project.

A blog http://atlanticyardsreport.blogspot.com seems to mention him a bit, but not a WP:RS, a video [9] has him discussing it, and another video [10] discussing it, hes introduced bills about it A09012, A11431, maybe more. Theres the "Project Reclaim" that seems controversial (video interview [11]). The edit you just made to File:Hakeem Jeffries.JPG, "Taken as Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries leaves the State of the District Address at Pratt Institute, taken by a student at Pratt, given to Hakeem's staff." The copyright holder, Diane Lau, will need to provide some sorta legal document that she transfers the copyright to someone else, like "I Diane Lau, of (address), hereby transfer all rights of these image(s) to (client's name). The image(s) were created on (date) and are described as (description of images)." and the person she gives the copyright too will have to or she will need to e-mail our OTRS team, permissions-commons@wikimedia.org, stating she releases that specific photograph (providing a link to it on commons) under the specific license listed on commons.
