Event names edit

In articles about MMA fighters you have been changing the name of events which do have articles to a name that does not correspond to an article. You'll notice that after doing so, the name of the event is "red-linked" meaning the link goes to no article. It is preferable that events listed in articles use the names to which there is an already existing article. Please stop changing the names of events away from an existing article and thus creating red links. --TreyGeek (talk) 20:10, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

The name of the event is wrong. You need to change the page of Dream.17 to DREAM: Japan GP Final. Then the link will be blue. I could care less if the link is red, as long as the info is correct.
I don;t have the ability to change page titles yet.NuclearSun (talk) 20:22, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Just look at the poster for the event, no mention of: Dream.17. Because it is called DREAM: Japan GP Final. Totally different from Fight for Japan!
Dream.17 is an event that is going to be held in September. It will be the beginning of the World Bantamweight Grand Prix. NuclearSun (talk) 20:30, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
First it is best to keep conversations on the same page. It makes it easier for others to follow the discussion in case they want to participate. Since the conversation started here, it is best to keep it here. I am finding an equal number of search results for "Dream.17" as I can for "Dream Japan GP Final". So your assertion that the event's article is titled incorrectly doesn't appear to hold completely true. If you can find a source that definitively shows that the event is only titled "Dream Japan GP Final" then I would like to see it. --TreyGeek (talk) 20:35, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ok a lot of sites including MMAjunkie and Sherdog all have originally incorrectly named it Dream.17. But when you actually got to the page about that event, "dream.17" doesn't appear on the page. I'm not trying to vandalize wikipedia, I love what the community does with keeping all the info straight. But i know for a fact Dream.17 has not happened yet. NuclearSun (talk) 20:38, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Go to an individual fighters record on Sherdog, they don't call this event Dream.17.NuclearSun (talk) 20:40, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm less familiar with Dream events. So hopefully we can discuss this and get it worked out as this is somewhat confusing (and the fact that the Dream.17 talk page went to the wrong place didn't help to start off with :).
The link to the Dream website provided in the article does lead to an event called "Japan GP Final" just as you suggest but I also see "Fight for Japan" in the title. Was the entire tournament titled "Fight For Japan"? And the event that just took place is the Finals of the tournament it appears?
Your mention of the event name on fighter records on Sherdog is interesting but confuses matters more. Sherdog calls it "Dream - Fight for Japan: 2011 Japan Bantamweight Tournament Final" and not "Dream 17" or "Dream Japan GP Final". So it is weird that Sherdog doesn't use the same name as Dream. I do see on Sherdog a seperate event for Dream 17 scheduled for September.
I'm inclined to help in moving/renaming the article, but it is a matter of clearing up the confusion and knowing what the appropriate title is. Again, hopefully we can work this out. --TreyGeek (talk) 20:56, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'm pretty sure both events were a part of the "Fight for Japan" to help Japan with the recent natural disasters/nuclear disaster. It'd make it a lot easier if i could read Japanese ha. But i know with all official dream posters the name is clearly on it. This on states Fight For Japan small up top, and then Dream Japan GP final. I remember EVERYONE calling it Dream.17 until Dream announced 17 for september. NuclearSun (talk) 21:04, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Things are starting to become clearer. I've put a message on the article's talk page with the situation and asking other people's opinions on what to rename the article to. I'll also put a similar message on the talk page of the MMA Wikiproject. Hopefully we'll get a consensus on what to rename it to so that (most) everyone is in agreement. --TreyGeek (talk) 21:08, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Can you please not change fight tables until after the article has been renamed. It will be easier to find and fix all of the wikilinks if they stay to Dream.17. Thanks. --TreyGeek (talk) 22:47, 27 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for August 5 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Andrei Arlovski, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Anthony Johnson. Arlovski edit

No problem. Thanks to you as well for spotting that error/vandalism. I think I had even updated the page after his last fight and not even noticed it was inconsistent with his record at Sherdog. Good eyes spotting that! Udar55 (talk) 14:09, 6 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
