Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 11,049 last month to 11,075 on April 30th). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 108 is ahead of WP:GM who have 81. WP:GM has the lead in FAs at 57 out of a total number of 3,327 articles.
Currently we have thirty two Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
WikiProject Yorkshire Collaboration of the Month Project
The April 2014 articles selected below are an editor choice as there were no further suggestions from the project talk page.
The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.

Vandalism?
Latest comment: 10 years ago4 comments2 people in discussion
I am confused, while I don't know the accuracy of what is being stated here, how is it vandalism?--Maleko Mela (talk) 10:25, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
I might have pulled out too much about the land forces (I'll look again) but if you think the bit about the development of the Hawaiian navy and a huge deadnaught fleet is anything but vandalism then feel free to reinsert with sources. Nthep (talk) 10:30, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
I see. My point was just that I don't understand calling it vandalism when we have such a strict definition on Wikipedia for what that is, but I am not interested in actually re-adding that yet. Maybe, if it turns out to be accurate. I do know the Kingdom did have a navy, just not to what extent that was. But don't worry, eventually i intend to research this out with RS when time permits. Do you think the article is bad enough that it needs some clean up?--Maleko Mela (talk) 10:49, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
I take your point but I think it's so outlandish a claim that Hawaii had a navy that size to meet the definition of vandalism as opposed to just unsourced material. Nthep (talk) 11:24, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

Good afternoon! Sorry I wasn't able to respond to your notification for deletion for https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:TNANG.gif. I went to fill out the required section but saw that it had already been removed. The source for this object was the Tennessee Air National Guard/US Air Force. Fair use is established by the fact that it was created by a US government entity, and is being used for identification purposes. Could you please do an un-delete? Thanks! nf utvol (talk) 19:58, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
I will restore the image once I understand what the response to the original deletion is, namely where specifically did the image come from. If it's the state of Tennessee then it's not necessarily a PD item (unlike works of the State of Florida) but if it's of Federal creation source then it is almost certainly PD. Nthep (talk) 20:25, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
Hmm, it's definitely produced by the TNANG, but I'm not sure if that qualifies as something created under the auspices of the State of Tennessee or USAF. It's literally been years since I uploaded it, so I'm not certain where I found it originally. If the person who created it did it while the unit was Federalized, then it would definitely be, not sure otherwise though. It's a fairly rarely used device, and the TNANG's site kind of sucks, so it doesn't have any images. I've seen it on a number of ANG publications though. Regardless, I think it's pretty easy to give a fair use justification as an identifying badge of a military organization, even if it isn't public domain. Much better than a picture of an airplane that the TNANG doesn't even fly any more, which is what is currently used on the page.nf utvol (talk) 22:34, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
Ok it's restored but you need to add a valid licence or a fair use rationale, othrwise it'll get deleted again. Nthep (talk) 08:28, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
Done, thanks!nf utvol (talk) 17:24, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2014 Nepal Premier League, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Round-robin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I'm having a bit of trouble with File:IggyAzaleaLIVENYC.jpg, Laura has asked me to upload a better quality version of the image but I can't as I edit from opera and don't have pc access. The same with Julia's File:Iggy Azalea Work Converse Dirty.jpg , this because the files are too large for my phone to upload. Could I perhaps ask you to do them for me please? Laura's better quality version appears on the file's flickr page, and Julia's version I will need to e-mail to you. Sorry for the inconvenience but I'd really appreciate it, as my phone's not capable of doing it for me. (Sad I know, LOL). Regards.—CoolMarc 07:02, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Pumpie's sockpuppets
Latest comment: 9 years ago4 comments2 people in discussion
Hi, I'm Marianian and I am able to detect the modus operandi of Pumpie's sockpuppets. Pumpie is currently blocked indefinitely due to this.
It has come to my attention that Hannah Undel may belong to Pumpie, pending CheckUser, because it created many s-line templates on its first day, and made cut and paste moves to metro articles (see WP:DUCK).
What it means for you is that, if you detect those kind of edits from an apparently new account, it may well be a sockpuppet of Pumpie: not all but if you would like to look back at all the reports please see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Pumpie.
Other telltale signs of a Pumpie sockpuppet includes, but not limited to: broken Greek translations and capitalising "Railway Station" despite general convention not to. The sooner we catch the user's sockpuppets the less of the editor's "damage" we have to deal with.
I did have a look at the Pumpie SPI when I was looking at Hannah Undel's edit history and while you might well be right, it didn't quite fit, her edits are more to Spanish stations than Greek and the capitalisation was in the right direction to lowercase station from uppercase Station, albeit done wrongly by cut and paste but trying to be right. I await the CU outcome with some interest. Nthep (talk) 16:21, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
I forgot to emphasise that my intelligence shows that one of his sockpuppets did edit Spanish stations as a cover before making the move to the target. I think we need a brief WP:LTA page to help aid detection. --Marianian(talk) 16:31, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
You were right, thanks for the heads up, I know what to look for in future. I see they were straight back with another sock. Perhaps a LTA page is needed. Nthep (talk) 09:08, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi, you removed my pictures on my Stonechat Jewellers draft because there was no evidence of permission. The photos were from my Stonechat Jewellers website which I own and manage. How do I prove that I own the rights to the photos? Thanks for your time and any information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RamallahCC (talk • contribs) 12:18, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi, there are two main ways. The first is to amend your website to include a [Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright#Copyleft_licenses|copyleft]] notice on your website for the relevant images, preferably a Creative Commons license. The other is to follow the process at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries and email Wikipedia with a release licence for the photos. If you go down this route you need to use an email address that is linked to your website i.e. from stonechatjewellers.ie Nthep (talk) 19:16, 25 May 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for the information. I have submitted the images now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RamallahCC (talk • contribs) 11:48, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Well for a start don't just cut and paste the plot summary from IMDB, then read the notability guidelines for films (Wikipedia:Notability (films)) so that you understand what is required of a film article. Nthep (talk) 18:21, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Hi Books & Bytes recipients: The Wikipedia Library has been expanding rapidly and we need some help! We currently have 10 signups for free account access open and several more in the works... In order to help with those signups, distribute access codes, and manage accounts we'll need 2-3 more Account Coordinators.
It takes about an hour to get up and running and then only takes a couple hours per week, flexible depending upon your schedule and routine. If you're interested in helping out, please drop a note in the next week at my talk page or shoot me an email at: jorlowitzgmail.com. License tagging for File:Amzie Moore 1963.jpg
Latest comment: 9 years ago2 comments2 people in discussion
Thanks for uploading File:Amzie Moore 1963.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:05, 29 June 2014 (UTC)

Although other stations do not have a logo, St Pancras does and it is a prominent and recognisable part of the station, displayed instead of the Network Rail or TOC logo. The station is used by many people as a shopping centre or to access hotels, people who are not just boarding trains and they use the logo to recognise the station. There are appropriate fair use templates on the image. JaJaWa |talk 04:27, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
