Apologies regarding the Teahouse edit

I regret that a couple of editors used your perfectly reasonable request at the Teahouse as an opportunity to get into a squabble. The simple advice you seek is at WP:ENGVAR. The basics are that we use American English when writing about American topics, British English when writing about British topics, and so on. If a topic has no geographic focus, we stick with the English variation of the original author. Of course, there are disputes from time to time, but not worth fighting about, in my opinion.
