I received a notice that an piece I had authored entitled P-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase inhibitors had been redirected to a page entitled P-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase inhibitormissing the final "s". I have to admit to being most confused by this. The triketones (the subject of the article) are a class of inhibitors. It is just grammatically wrong to speak of a single inhibitor. Found in ... food

edit

Hi there. I noticed that you have been adding references to the detection of various organic compounds in some foodstuffs. e.g. "Analysis of polyphenolic compounds of different vinegar samples. Miguel Carrero Gálvez, Carmelo García Barroso and Juan Antonio Pérez-Bustamante, Zeitschrift für Lebensmitteluntersuhung und -Forschung A, Volume 199, Number 1, pages 29-31, doi|10.1007/BF01192948" My guess is that all foods contain tens of thousands of organic compounds and all major organic compounds are found in tens of thousands or more foods and other natural products. So I think that you should probably cease this otherwise well intentioned edits, unless there is something notable about the occurrence of a particular organic compound (like HCN in peach pits, or certain characteristic compounds that powerfully influence flavors or odors or nutrition). Sorry to sound so negative but we are wary of giving readers the wrong impression about the importance of the factoids we include. If you see a way out of this situation, let me know. Image:Information.svg|25px|alt=|link= Thank you for your edit to the WP:DAB|disambiguation page Flash release. However, please note that disambiguation pages are not articles; rather, they are meant to help readers find a specific article quickly and easily. From the Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts|disambiguation do's and don'ts, you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, which should not end with punctuation
  • Use only one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry, and avoid WP:RED|red links
  • Do not WP:PIPE|pipe links—keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert WP:EL|external links

Thank you. Hi, the second entry is not mentioned in the linked article so I removed it according to WP:MOSDAB. That means the DAB has only 1 entry, so I have asked for the DAB to be deleted/article moved, to revert. User:Widefox|Widefox (User talk:Widefox|talk) 14:15, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

I see you have been piping links and altering them. However, many of your changes are incorrect. The main article for Fungi is at Fungus, but the main article for Algae is not at Alga. You also do not need to eliminate redirects, and it is other desirable to leave in the redirects, as articles do sometimes get moved, split, or otherwise modified. Redirect links actually help in that process. --User:EncycloPetey|EncycloPetey (User talk:EncycloPetey|talk) 06:56, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

As noted above, you should not be eliminating links to redirects; read WP:NOTBROKEN. Links to disambiguation pages are another matter and do need sorting out. You may like to note that Liverwort now a redirect, so inserting Marchantiophyta| is no longer necessary. User:Peter coxhead|Peter coxhead (User talk:Peter coxhead|talk) 07:56, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

WP:PTM|partial title matches - not for dab pages

edit

Hello! I realize you do quite a bit of disambiguation work, but I wondered if you had pondered the guideline on WP:PTM|partial title matches. I see you just re-created pubescens, consisting of a simple list of links of species epithets that contain that title. None of them, I assure you, are ever referred to as simply "pubescens" - the logic is clearly laid out at WP:PTM for what should be included on a dab page. You seem to be using dab pages as indices instead, a mess that will, I think, eventually need to be cleaned up at some point. For this particular page, pubescens, it was pointed out on the talk page in 2009 that the links had no purpose on a dab page, yet you chose to recreate it anyway. I would appreciate it if you might stop for a moment and explain why you think this is valuable and how it fits in with current disambiguation guidelines, especially WP:PTM. Thanks! The formula-pages are not WP:DAB pages and the "(disambiguation)" pages are just redirects to the actual pages at the formulas themselves. Please don't bother using the former, as Wikipedia_talk:Disambiguation#Category:Chemistry_disambiguation_pages_and_Category:Molecular_formula_disambiguation_pages|they are against consensus to be considered disambig pages, in addition to being pointless redirection to get to the actual content. Please stop adding the pointless word "species" to the list of species at C. elegans (disambiguation). It is entirely undesirable; further similar edits may be seen as disruptive. --User:Stemonitis|Stemonitis (User talk:Stemonitis|talk) 10:35, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
