Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, NotIanmacm, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to refer directly to another user.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. --♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 10:04, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did with this edit to YouTube Instant, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:10, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Indeed, you are not Ianmacm. Amusing stunt for a username, but further evidence of WP:SOCK in this article. One user, one account, please.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 09:19, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
This username is unacceptable since it is clearly an attempt to troll me.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 09:23, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

so am i supposed to create another account with another user name? That will be WP:SOCK. What should I do now?

Ever since YouTube Instant was created, there have been suspicions of sockpuppeteering. This has been hyped beyond realistic limits for a tech blog story. It is interesting, but not everything in the news needs to have a full Wikipedia article. I would advise against using the Notianmacm username, since it is a thinly disguised attempt at trolling another user. Ask someone at the WP:HELPDESK about getting a new username.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 09:33, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you must sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 09:40, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I didn't know. ~ ~ ~ ~

Your account has been blocked indefinitely because its username is a blatant violation of our username policy – it is obviously profane; threatens, attacks or impersonates another person; or suggests that your intention is not to contribute to the encyclopedia (see our blocking and username policies for more information). We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames, and trolling or other disruptive behavior is not tolerated. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.
