November 2023 edit

Please refrain from using talk pages such as Talk:Lia Thomas for general discussion of this or other topics. They are for discussion related to improving the article in specific ways, based on reliable sources and the project policies and guidelines; they are not for use as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See the talk page guidelines for more information. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 15:36, 5 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

April 2024 edit

Hey Nosehair2200, please refrain from interpolating commentary in other's comments on talk pages, as you did in Talk:Oneness Pentecostalism. Wikipedia's talk page guidelines state that "Generally, you should not break up another editor's text by interleaving or interpolating your own replies to individual points. This causes confusion with who said what and obscures the original editor's intent" : see WP:INTERPOLATE. Instead, you can reply to the comments and respond to points one by one. Additionally, while you were responding to an off-topic response, the guidelines also state that "Talk pages are for discussing the article, not for general conversation about the article's subject" : see WP:TALK#TOPIC. Please use the talk page to discuss the article, not the subject of the article. JParksT2023 (talk) 15:50, 4 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

How are you confused when I pointed out that my responses were in bold and I even time stamped my responses? It was a lot easier to respond the way I did than to cut and past everything and then correct what that person said. How does one discuss the article without discussing the subject matter? Nosehair2200 (talk) 13:35, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's just common practice to avoid interpolating into other's comments in general, even with your steps, just to avoid any chance of misinterpretation or confusion. Editing other's comments in general is discouraged. Additionally, while you can discuss the subject of the article for the purposes of improving the article, simply debating theology in the talk page (not for the improvement of the page) is not in accordance with talk page guidelines WP:NOTFORUM (also related, WP:NOTADVOCACY).
