Hello, Norma Romm, this is Mlpearc from the Account Creation team, we here at Wikipedia, want to welcome you and your future contributions to our encyclopedia and community. I have left some useful information and links above for your use if needed. You might notice from looking at other new users we usually don't leave a personal message from the account team, aside from the one I placed above, because of the inference of your User name or messages, I would like to possibly save you some time and confusion. If you plan to write an article about yourself this is strongly discouraged, as per our policy here Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and/or here Wikipedia:Autobiography. Please read and become familiar with this information. Having an article written about yourself is no problem, but there are policies in which to consider and follow. I just undid a good faith edit of yours at racism. I suspect that you have a lot of useful information to add, and I hope that you return to add it. Here is why I undid it. it seems apparent to me from your user name and from the source that you added that you are in essence quoting yourself. This can lead to all sorts of issues with editors even "worse" than me. I suggest that you pick another user name and return. Should you wish to change your user name, you are certainly entitled to do so. However, if you do so, please be sure to make it clear on your talk page/user page that you do have an apparent conflict of interest. Otherwise, it would seem that you were attempting to avoid scrutiny for a valid concern, likely leading to a block from editing. - SummerPhD (talk) 17:48, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to you, your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Hello again. The tilde key on your keyboard (or at least mine) is on the top row, far left. You hold the shift key and hit that key 4 times and it will automatically sign your messages. Like this. Carptrash (talk) 22:14, 3 October 2011 (UTC) As far as a conflict of interests goes, just because you are knowledgeable about and have written about a topic does not mean that there is automatically (wow - used that word twice in one posting and spelled it correctly both times!) a conflict of interests. Wikipedia is always looking for editors who have an expertise in a particular area. That you have published on a subject does not mean that you are not able to write from a neutral perspective. However when i saw your quote and your user name I figured there might be some fallout and it was not too long in coming. Another possible conflict of interest occurs if you appear to be pushing your book or product, and I did not see any of that in your edit. It's a grey area, but then so few, if any, things are completely black & white.Reply

Good morning Norma. For some reason the four tildes did not seem to work to make you a signature. Your posting are being signed by some automatic thing at wikipedia who knows who you are. One more thought for now. If you put something, anything, on your user page then your user name will appear in blue rather than in red print. This is often seen, at least by me, as being a mark of a more experienced editor. I will think abut the tilde thing a bit. I am pretty much a luddite around here, so if I can do it, anyone can. If you answer me at my page try typing the 4 tildes, becaue if you had done that before, they did not show up on my page, either as a signature or as 4 ~. You need to do 4 of these things ~ in a row. Do you hit the Show preview button after writing something? If not, give that a try. Once we get that done then we can move on to some substance stuff, like ideas from your work. Hello dear Carptrash . I am actually very illiterate with this system here . I now have pressed the edit button to write this extra message to you. I gethered from your talking about "show preview" that I can write to you via this editing function. I may of course be wrong and you may not get this. But I see here that there is a "show preview" sign on this page; so maybe it will work. The last time I was using a space (I don't know how I got to it - it was a lot of trial and error pressing of buttons) for making a new message. And somehow I managed to make a message that reached you! Anyway, thanks for all of your messages and for all your care and attention. I will now try to see if I press "show preview" if this message is there. Also I will now hit the shift sign and press the tilde sign 4 times. Maybe it will work now that I am in the edit function. With all good wishes from me. Yes I have done a "show preview" and this message was there. So maybe you will also see it!   Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   or   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. If you write something, anything, on your user page, then your signature will appear in blue rather than in red. This will identify you as a more experienced editor, and that is, in my opinion, a good thing. Or to put it another way, a blue link is a sign that there is something there and a red one means that there is nothing there. You get to decide which of those two you are. Something or nothing.
