Grand Trunk Western 5629 moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Grand Trunk Western 5629, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Please check your sources before adding things to the Class II list edit

I've had to revert almost all of your additions to List of U.S. Class II railroads because they are clearly Class III railroads (and I went and verified which are class IIIs, which you clearly did not do). Do not add companies that are not class II to the list. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 20:36, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I know very little to nothing about 2839. However, if you ask a user more experienced than me, like User:Trains13, about 2839, I think he’ll tell you, considering he’s been getting information from magazines relevant to the Southern/Norfolk Southern Steam Program, as well as American steam locomotives in general. October 2022 edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Canadian National 6218. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:46, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Why did you create a second article on the same topic? I'm going to ask if they can be history-merged. Liz Read! Talk! 01:47, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

IC 2613 edit

@Someone who likes train writing @Trains13@Trainsandotherthings In Case anybody is intrested, I am creating an article for IC 2613 to keep up with my usual tradition for creating articles on both scrapped and unheard steam excursion stars. If anybody has any sources please let me know in this topic only. NorfolkandWesternBoi (talk) 14:24, 30 January 2023 (UTC) Draft:Illinois_Central_2613.Reply

I might look for as much info about this locomotive as I can. However you can’t expect every reliable source to even mention every single locomotive that ever existed. For instance, 2613 is actually so obscure that you can’t expect it to be mentioned in more than one magazine, book, newspaper, or online news article. Though, I could be wrong in 2613’s case. And besides, the reason I have added so much information to the pages on 5629 and 5632 is because one of the sources, A Passion for Steam, actually has a lot of information regarding both locomotives. I also found a magazine article that held so much info on C&NW 1385, I was able to take that as a reliable source and put that in 1385’s page. My point is, not every single steam locomotive that exists is going to have enough reliable sources to to have it’s own page. I’ve actually learned that the hard way, because I’ve created a long line of pages that talk about obscure steamers with very little to no reliable sources. Especially Duluth and Northeastern 29. Like I said, I could be wrong in 2613’s case. Maybe there were plenty of magazines and newspapers that mention that locomotive, so I might keep a lookout, just to be safe. Someone who likes train writing (talk) 15:57, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Writing about steam locomotives isn't really my thing, sorry. Plenty of people doing that; I focus on railroads which are often neglected. I do have a few books relating to steam locomotives, but I very strongly doubt they'd say anything about this locomotive, unfortunately. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 17:22, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Carleton, Paul (1994). Memories of Norfolk and Western Power (1st ed.). D. Carleton Railbooks.
  • Jeffries, Lewis (1980). N&W: Giant of Steam (1st ed.). Pruett Publishing. ISBN 0-87108-547-X

Reason why I am asking this: So I can citate the books as references for the page numbers on the books if Norfolk and Western 1240 can get past the Articles for Creation (AfC) submissions. 60.241.84.63 (talk) 10:47, 18 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Additional sources for me to add to the page? or additional sources to citate the pages it appeared in? 60.241.84.63 (talk) 21:39, 18 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Additional sources for the page DomtheN&WFan (talk) 21:41, 18 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
american-rails.com is not a reliable secondary source since there have been some drafts that had american-rails.com on their references and Wikipedia says that american-rails.com is not a reliable source. 203.219.245.156 (talk) 23:19, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
unless if they are lying and it's just @Trainsandotherthings that is constantly declining drafts that has american-rails.com on them just so that he could annoy everyone. 203.219.245.156 (talk) 23:22, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Kk I'll try to find more sources later on in the week DomtheN&WFan (talk) 23:23, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't have to decline anything if you learned how to use proper sourcing. I've explained it to you in detail with each decline, but you refuse to learn. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 23:57, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ok Yeezus. I'm trying to get back into Wikipedia, but life is getting in my way from doing it. That's why I'm now semi-active from it DomtheN&WFan (talk) 00:04, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
I really don't know which pages 1240 appeared in for those two books. 203.219.245.156 (talk) 09:22, 20 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Question about the books N&W 1240 appeared in edit

I am willing to know what pages did Norfolk and Western Class A #1240 appear in. The reason why I am asking this is so that if you answer on what pages it appeared in, I will citate the pages it appeared in on the draft.

Books in question:

  • Carleton, Paul (1994). Memories of Norfolk and Western Power (1st ed.). D. Carleton Railbooks.
  • Jeffries, Lewis (1980). N&W: Giant of Steam (1st ed.). Pruett Publishing. ISBN 0-87108-547-X

And when you reply on what pages it appeared in the response should look somewhat like this:

"For the Carleton, Paul (1994). Memories of Norfolk and Western Power (1st ed.). D. Carleton Railbooks., it appeared in (insert page no. it appeared in here), specifically (insert the event its involved in (e.g: in service, excursion run, etc)) and as for Jeffries, Lewis (1980). N&W: Giant of Steam (1st ed.). Pruett Publishing. ISBN 0-87108-547-X, it appeared in (insert page no. it appeared in here), specifically (insert the event its involved in (e.g: in service, excursion run, etc))."

Farewell edit

Hi there. You’re probably still wondering where the heck I’ve been for the past few months. Well, I’m sad to inform you that I’m done with Wikipedia. I would really love to continue on improving the drafts you’ve made, but life has not been very kind to me recently. I think that it’s time I leave the internet in general to focus on real life things. Besides, I’m worried that if it’s true Elon Musk is trying to buy Wikipedia, I don’t wanna have to pay for a subscription. Good luck to you and others on improving and submitting your drafts. So long. Larrysteamfan (talk) 02:30, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I understand. It's hard to continue doing this while life is always changing. I'm semi-retired so I won't be as active as active as I used to be. I respect your decision and hope you have a great career. That's all I have to say. Farewell old friend. DomtheN&WFan (talk) 12:03, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
