Welcome to Wikipedia, Noopur edit

Thank You :) --RJV (talk) 17:02, 18 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Although some prefer welcoming newcomers with cookies, I find fruit to be a healthier alternative.

Hello, Noopur28, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like this place and decide to stay.

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
 1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
 2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
 3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
 4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
 5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like , copy the whole thing).
 6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
 7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
References
Reflist
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

December 2011 edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Dabeli, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted (undone) by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

 • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
 • ClueBot NG makes very few mistakes, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been considered as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
 • If you need help, please see our help pages, and if you can't find what you are looking for there, please feel free to place "helpme" on your talk page and someone will drop by to help.
 • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Dabeli was changed by Noopur28 (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.890172 on 2011-12-15T20:03:59+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 20:04, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Dabeli with this edit, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. ScottyBerg (talk) 20:15, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've removed the warnings from ClueBot and myself, as this editor made a good-faith edit, but neglected to include an edit summary. ScottyBerg (ScottyBerg) 15:47, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey ScottyBerg Sorry for not adding the edit summary. I was trying to remove the recipe as per WP:NORECIPE policy. :) Noopur28 (talk) 20:32, 15 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

OK, no problem. The important thing is to add an edit summary when removing large amounts of text. That's why your initial removal was reinstated by "Cluebot," which is an automated vandalism-detection system. I became aware of your edit through a system called "Huggle," for the same reason. Had you said in the edit summary what you did subsequently, it would be fine.
On Chhundo, which I looked at per your request, it seems like an informative article. My suggestion is that you add reliable sources on this and Dabeli, as the sources for both, particularly Dabeli, may not meet Wikipedia standards as described in WP:RS. I hope this helps, ScottyBerg (talk) 14:18, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yes, it's definitely a problem when there are a lack of online sources. But if you know of any that aren't online feel free to add them. ScottyBerg (talk) 14:53, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Why thank you, that's very nice. ScottyBerg (talk) 14:57, 17 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks again, that keeps my records clear :) ScotyBerg Noopur28 (talk) 15:55, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Deletions edit

You seem to be on a little spree of nominating things for deletion. You may want to check out a couple of your most recent ones before you go any further. Your rationale for the AfD here is ridiculous, and I have provided a reason for contesting the CSD at Chouda Rani. - Sitush (talk) 21:30, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

My apologies for calling it a "spree". It was not. I misread what was going on according to my watchlist and then "saw" more nominations than actually existed, due to the notification process that you are bound to go through. My mistake. I stand by my comments regarding the AfD and CSD but it was absolutely wrong of me to misinterpret events as I did. - Sitush (talk) 00:14, 5 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Bama (writer) edit

The article Bama (writer) has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the prod blp tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. --Sp33dyphil ©hatontributions 11:16, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

 • I am sorry but you can't pounce on a stub the moment it's created. The cite template was not working right and hence I had to go live without a reference. In the next minute, I added a reference to the article. In between that if you propose it for deletion already I would think it is slightly rash and foolish. Noopur28 (talk) 11:51, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I would rather suggest that, in the future, you add an underconstruction tag to such articles to prevent them from being tagged for deletion.-RaviMy Tea Kadai 03:18, 8 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

References edit

Hi Noopur28, thanks for your contributions on Wikipedia. I noticed a couple of places where you used Blogs ([1]) and Videos ([2]) as references. I suggest you read WP:RS to understand what references are considered reliable and useable on Wikipedia. Blogs and Videos are not considered to be reliable references. Also, I suggest you use the cite templates when adding references to articles. These are built into the top of the box where you edit and simple to use. Cheers, Around The Globeसत्यमेव जयते 11:03, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

 • Hey, while I appreciate you looking into references and mending them, please note that the video has not been used as a sole reference. The video has been transcribed below on the website and there is text on the webpage. Regarding the blog, WP:RS states that "it is alright" to use blogs of sites and services that provide their news and information on blogs. This article was created when I was just newly starting up. Although not citing with a citebox is not a crime, I try to use the cite box now on. So, I have reverted the video edit. Also, I think in your edit you've broken a reference link on the Nathdwara painting page. Please fix it :) Noopur28 (talk) 11:26, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Even then, Youtube and Dailymotion are not considered to be RS. The blog thing - for example, ([3]) can be used as its a blog by a ToI writer. Personally, I generally refer to books ([4]), newspapers ([5]) and journals as first point for refs, then look in other places to fill up where necessary. Please do take this in positive spirit, I know your new and am trying to point out stuff that may create trouble later on. The cite templates - if your aiming for creating a Good Article (like we are on Gandhi), cite templates are a must have, so I would encourage you to use them from the beggining else you or someone else would have to spend time adding the right templates later - double the work. The ref at Nathdwara was used twice, hence the error, have removed it. BTW - this article is FA potential IMO, thanks for creating it. Around The Globeसत्यमेव जयते 06:26, 14 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Romu Sippy edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Romu Sippy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Sippy edit

Bit of advice: stop worrying about templates and just get the info in. Doesn't matter about formatting, so long as the notability is shown. Things can be tidied up later. Peridon (talk) 13:43, 26 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've put an 'under construction' tag on it. Now get on with it! Peridon (talk) 13:45, 26 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

A tip for creating your next new article: Create it as a userspace draft first (User:Noopur28/XYZ), expand it at your leisure, without worrying about any sort of tags (no copyvios though), and move it to mainspace when its ready. What's better, DYK nominating becomes easier; you don't have to struggle to finish it in 5 days and then hurry to make a DYK nom. Lynch7 19:00, 26 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you want it putting into your userspace, just let me know. Peridon (talk) 09:44, 27 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Folk Dance in India edit

Heya, with reference to your edits on Folk Dance in India:

 • While creating new articles, especially, those relating to India, please add WikiProject India to the TOP of the talk page. This way, it'll help other editors from the work group in picking it up and further editing it.
 • While linking to another section/article, do not paste the http URL of the page in the Hello format, but rather in the Hello format. To link to a specific section, example: Coimbatore bypass#Neelambur–Madukkarai. To give another name to the link, add a Pipe symbol, after the link (|), then type the text to display. Eg: L&T bypass. I know this sounds ancient and archaic, but that's how it is.

Thank you for your contributions to this great project. All the best. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 07:28, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest edit

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Disambiguation link notification for March 20 edit

Hi. When you recently edited Sevpuri, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mint (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Advise for u:

 1. If u dont have material then dont create empty sections.

Wikipedia:Wikipedia for World Heritage edit

I need your assistance in developing and spreading a wikiproject. Can you help me in developing and spreading this page in wikipedia: Wikipedia:Wikipedia for World Heritage

Thank you and Happy editing! Yasht101 :) 06:52, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Dear Yash, I saw your post regarding Wikipedia for World heritage status but unfortunately I can't join that group because my politics don't agree with world heritage and Wikipedia. It's slightly complicated. Can we start working on creating or improving Gujarat related articles? Noopur28 (talk) 05:37, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Sure! I m always there to help. I have already assessed 600+ articles and today it will get above 1000. If any kind of service, i can offer you, then feel free to ask me. Have a nice day! Yasht101 :) 06:46, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

March 2012 edit

Hi, I went thru some of your edits and:

 • You've nominated pages for AfD which could've easily been redirected to other pages. Such moves put heavy workload on already stressed admins.
 • You've created articles with blank section. Please avoid.

Please keep in mind, what I have said above or in future, you may get warned by a user who may view your edits as inappropriate. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 07:10, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I oppose this: you may get warned by a user who may view your edits as inappropriate
I have already told her about blank sections and you also participated in the comments. No one can warn for having blank sections or taking little doubtful pages for AfD. I dont think these are serious things to be taken her edits as inappropriate. About AfD, she has under 1000 edits so shes a newcomer and I dont think you can blame her for taking wrong pages. I dont want to sound mean but You should be more polite, Srikant bro. Yasht101 :) 08:39, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Refs edit

Hi, when you added a ref here, you did NOT add a title. Please remember to add a title in future. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 16:08, 3 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Your edits edit

Please DO NOT add empty sections to articles, as you did on The Story of My Experiments with Truth. Please add the section as and when text/content is added and a new section is deemed fit. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 06:51, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm not being impatient. I'm just pointing out that empty sections look bad. Do remember that your edits are LIVE. While I would edit an article if it has an empty section, I seem to have no knowledge about the article in question and doubt if I can be of any help at all. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 07:06, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Titannic II edit

I am wondering if we should put that in its own section of the Legacy section. If we add more details from the two news reports, it would make a nice section. I feel it should have its own section at the top of the legacy section as it is one of the largest legacies to Titannic I. I thought I would seek your opinion first, because I assume this new information will be discussed on the talk page there.--Canoe1967 (talk) 19:20, 30 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

suggestion edit

Hi, I saw that you are involved in helping new users. so I thought of sharing something which you can use while dealing with new users who use bare URLs as refs, this was so frequent that I decided to make a template.

 • To tell the users how to add refs to wiki articles (copy paste below code)

using the code will add instructions along with your sign (not mine :) .Also please consider archiving (see wp:ARCHIVE and User:Cluebot III) regards-- ÐℬigXЯaɣ 13:12, 13 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Advice on improving article on Dinesh Hingoo edit

hey thanks for your feedback on my work in Nirmal Baba. Here I am working to improve another article titled Dinesh Hingoo. He is a known actor/comedian but I am unable to find good references so I have added youtube videos of his work as I believe they are best proof of his work(pls check ref 6 for his baazigar work to recognize him). Please check the article at Dinesh Hingoo and advice me whether adding these references a good idea to improve the article? is it ok? thanks --Adamstraw99 (talk) 13:21, 13 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Kiran Nadar edit

Please do not add indic text to the lead section of Indian articles, unless they are about movies, or books. Also, if you're adding indic text, use the following format: சென்னை or मुंबई. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 18:13, 13 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry but the article on Shiv Nadar, Narendra Modi and many others have the Indic text added. So, I am not sure if there is a policy against doing so, and if there is, please guide me to the same. Another point, there is surely a phonetic/pronunciation text added to all good articles. Why did you remove the Indic and not put a phonetic text so as to facilitate pronunciation? The idea of both is the same. I would advise you to make constructive edits and not just delete information unless you can add more.
Another, before suspecting the notability of Kiran Nadar, I request you to do a small google search/news search on her. The article is being built and unless you see that she is being promoted as notable ONLY because she is his wife, avoid tagging as not notable. However, a lot of people are notable just by marriage to famous people as well. Noopur28 (talk) 21:22, 13 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
