Consort Shen edit

User:Yaldati Sheli, who only appeared on Wikipedia today, has systematically stripped down the article Consort Shen, which you have worked on in the past, and then nominated it for deletion. He claims (on my talk page) that you created this page 'only as a joke', and want it blanked. I'm reasonably sure this is untrue, but I'm alerting you to the situation partly in order to give this person the benefit of the doubt. AlexTiefling (talk) 16:13, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Given the rest of his edits and their summaries (e.g., removing references when his edit summaries said that he was adding them), I'm pretty sure that it's a vandal, and I'm treating it as such. Thanks for letting me know. --Nlu (talk) 16:15, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proper punctuation edit

Please see my recent edits to Li Baoyu. You shouldn't use a sequence of two hyphens for an mdash; you should use an actual mdash instead. Also, in ranges of pages, years, or other numbers, an ndash rather than a hyphen should be used. Michael Hardy (talk) 13:20, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

With all due respect, I actually see this as more of a preference issue than proper punctuation issue. After all, I think the double hyphen is still taught by grammarians as proper. --Nlu (talk) 14:43, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
But Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers) says that in ranges of years, pages, or other numbers, including dates of birth and death, an ndash should be used. Michael Hardy (talk) 04:05, 22 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
All right, understood. I'll try to follow that... --Nlu (talk) 04:07, 22 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

User:Historiographer edit

im positive this dude is a nationalistic korean screwing up Lelang commandery article. can you put full protection over the page before a horde of his korean friends come and overwhelm the article?ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk) 03:17, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I actually see nothing wrong with adding Category:Early Korean history. In any case, I think that for me to get involved may create a bit of a conflict situation. If I am sure that it's vandalism, I'd do it, but it's not clear vandalism. I'd suggest requesting for help at WP:AN. --Nlu (talk) 04:22, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

no, he removed something from the page which i reverted.ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk) 14:51, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Again, not necessarily vandalism. The prior link was poorly formed, so removing it could have been nationalistic but could also be intended to remove a bad link. The evidence is not conclusive enough. --Nlu (talk) 15:12, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

and i forgot to mention he changed chinese names to koreans ones, which i have put back.ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk) 20:18, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

also is their any reason why taiwanese, hakka, and cantonese all get articles but other chinese people dont.....ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk) 20:22, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what you're referring to. There are lots of "other Chinese people" articles. --Nlu (talk) 20:37, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

can you review this article then? - Mandarin peopleㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk) 20:50, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Do you have reliable sources to back it up? If so, add them, and I'm sure that then it will survive the deletion process. --Nlu (talk) 20:57, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

nope the only reason i have is that hakka people cantonese people taiwanese people all have their own articles and that mandarin people outnumber them and have their own dialect too.ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk) 21:08, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

There's a bit of fundamental difference there; almost every Chinese person, regardless of what his/her geographic/linguistic origin were within China or the other Chinese-speaking communities, will speak at least some Mandarin. In other words, there is no such thing, based on that kind of definition, of a "Mandarin people" based on the Mandarin language. You might get a better argument when narrowly defining the group as people of Hebei and Shandong, and possibly Shanxi, but even then, the article needs to be sourced and carefully written. --Nlu (talk) 21:10, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

not standard mandarin, just the mandarin branch of the chinese language fmaily..ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk) 21:32, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

and the cantonese article is unreferenced too.ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk) 21:33, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Then perhaps that article should be deleted, too, but regardless, source this one to the extent you can, with reliable sources. --Nlu (talk) 21:34, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

seriously another korean just came on and deleted the chinese names i added to lelang commandary again, you need to watch it closely. along with other korean- chinese related articlesㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk) 02:29, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

lelang commandery edit

this article continues to be subjected to korean trolling, you know, they hide their deletions cleverly, deleting the chinese names, at the same time, sliding in Category:Early Korean History so they can accuse us of vandalism when reverted.ㄏㄨㄤㄉㄧ (talk) 17:22, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't agree, after review of history. I think it's good faith, whether you (or I, for that matter), agree with it or not, but I think I actually agree with "them" in this case. --Nlu (talk) 18:23, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
