Notability of Nilupul edit

A tag has been placed on Nilupul requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Guest9999 (talk) 10:22, 12 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

October 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Butterflies of Sri Lanka do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.--Chanaka L (talk) 11:56, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Junonia hierta. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.--M4gnum0n (talk) 08:28, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

All the external links being added seem to be dead and unusable. Shyamal (talk) 03:26, 21 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Desist from adding links to articles of incomplete sites. edit

Hi Nilupulcool,

You have been constantly been adding external links to the Sri Lanka Wildlife Information Database. Your adding links is pointless and incorrect. Firstly, the web site appears to be that of a private organisation, not an academic, research or government organisation, so that this may qualify as link spam. Secondly, the information and images are incomplete. This is no way helpful to the readers of Wikipedia. Thirdly, the information in the web site is not referenced and thus are quite likely to be copyright violations. Please do not add any more links. I will be reverting the others.

A more useful activity will be to :

  • On Wikipedia, find useful referenced information on the Sri Lankan aspects of each of these butterflies and add them.
  • Off Wikipedia, complete and improve the Sri Lanka Wildlife Information Database.

Your links do not resolve. Please note that you need to respond to concerns here. Any further addition of external links without discussion could lead to your account being blocked for persistent spamming. Shyamal (talk) 07:25, 22 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

December 2010 edit

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. You might like to examine WP:EL, WP:SPAM and WP:COI especially since your sole purpose appears to be to add links to a single website. Note that you can be blocked for failing to engage with other editors who have raised objections. Shyamal (talk) 04:50, 31 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
