Help me edit

I have a quick question that I can't seem to find the answer to on the wiki help pages. What about linking to sites ie newspapers, that have a paywall...I am keen to make sure that I don't link to pages that will contribute to link rot or upset users.

Thanks

Hello. While it's non-paywalled sources are preferred, you can still add references to paywalled sources, just tag them with {{subscription required}} like:
<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.example.org |title=Webpage title |accessdate=22 September 2012}} {{subscription required|s}}</ref>
Which will produce:
"Webpage title". Retrieved 22 September 2012. (Subscription required.)
