Vanished Stub?
editAdam I don't understand something that happened in Nicole's history. I have them writing stubs for women in the military who died in Feb. I can see that she did the work, but it looks when she published, the work vanished. Can you help me understand what happened? Winter Plummer

Sargeant Winter Plummer from Arizona served in the United States Army for four years and completed a year of deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006. She engaged in armed combat during her deployment for Operation Iraqi Freedom and worked as a 25Q Multichannel Radio Operator for the rest of her service. Her awards from service include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2), Meritorious Unit Award, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Non-commission Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Bar (2), and Combat Action Badge. Sargeant Plummer ended her duties to care for her daughter Taylor.[1] Sargeant Plummer was murdered in her home by her husband, Sargeant Sheldon Plummer, after the couple had a dispute the night of February 19, 2010.[2] She is survived by her daughter, mother, father, three siblings, and three nephews.[1]

The article Winter Plummer has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No apparent widespread notability. We don't have an article for every murder victim in the world.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. More on Winter Plummer
editHi Nicole, I now see that you're here as part of a student project. The problem I see with the article on Winter is that she just doesn't seem "Notable" in Wikipedia terms. She was a woman who had been in the military, but as far as I can see was no more notable than thousands of other women and men in the armed forces of the world. Make that millions. She was a murder victim, but so, sadly, are thousands of other women and men around the world every day. She has come to your attention as a woman, formerly in the US forces, who was murdered by her husband, but I just don't see anything there to justify an article in an international encyclopedia. I'm sorry that your nicely-written and well-linked article just doesn't seem appropriate and I've proposed it for deletion. If you're on the lookout for women to write about who are more likely to be considered notable, please have a look at the WP:Women in Red pages, where they take a topic each month or so and encourage editors to help redress the under-representation of women in the encyclopedia. (I've created articles on women in fields I know nothing about, but it's been an interesting challenge to try to contribute each month). Happy Editing! PamD 09:38, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Dear Nicole, I know that it takes a little time to learn how this crowd-sourced encyclopedia works, and that new editors can misunderstand how Wikipedia works. Of course, Winter Plummer's life was notable; her death a notable tragedy. The life of a human being can never be non-notable. However notability as the word is used in Wikipedia is a term of art applying standards of notability for inclusion in an encyclopedia. These are only met if a crime receives an extraordinary amount of attention in the press, or if it has a demonstrable impact on policy, or passes WP:GNG for some other reason (for example, if a notable author bases a screenplay on a specific murder.)
