Requests for Adminship/Steveo2 edit

I read your comments about my run for adminship. The reason I mentioned voting in ArbCom was just to show an example of my (attempts) to stay involved on the site. There really is no "urgency" to become an adminstrator, like you said in your comment. Thank you for leaving your opinions. JaredW! 12:16, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

A token of gratitude edit

For your kind words that prevented me to run away; the words which made me to continue to be a part of the Project to build the sum total of human knowledge. With a sense of gratitude, I, Bhadani present you the Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar. Thank you Nicholas!

Thank you Nicholas - I cannot express in words the help you rendered to me to control my emotions and sentiments, and to continue to be part of the noble cause of building the sum total of human knowledge. It is just a token of my gratitude. Today, I am feeling really fine. --Bhadani 14:57, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your kind words. The things did not go ugly at the RfA - it was forced to become ugly by persons who are having strong personal likes and dislikes, and who fail to understand the cultural divide. Such persons, in the long run, may directly or indirectly/ intentioanlly or unintentionally sabotage the project. --Bhadani 15:24, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Defense of content edit

Hi Nicholas - the latter policy proposal is I think of possible interest to you - I'm hoping to devise a new method of protecting Wikipedia content by delaying the incorporation of possible problematic edits. I hope you can check it out and give your opinion and your own ideas. Rama's Arrow 05:52, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pakistan size edit

You mentioned on the Pakistan peer review that you wanted the size down to 30-35 KB. The article as it stands now (drastically improved since the beginning of the peer review, if I do say so myself) is 42 KB. However, removing the references and notes section gives a 37 KB size. Further removing the See also templates, categories, and interwiki links also decreases the size. Is any of this taken into consideration, or not? In my opinion, there doesn't seem like much more can be removed, certainly not 7-12KB. Pepsidrinka 21:02, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

It looks like perhaps you missed this message when reviewing your other messages. In any event, hope to hear from you soon. Pepsidrinka

After becoming an admin, I always wondered how you still find time for article creation despite being a sysop and bureaucrat - the wondering hasn't ceased yet, but I do hope that giving you this award will encourage me to find time for creating more articles. Thanks for all your help at many junctures. --Gurubrahma 10:32, 10 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem edit

Can you please suggest solution to the copyright problem indicated below in my talk page. I am confused as details are fully available on the image itself.(drawn by me only).

Image copyright problem with Image:Dores-TG Cycle diag1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Dores-TG Cycle diag1.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Rossrs 22:59, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Marine Drive edit

You just reverted Marine Drive, Mumbai to Marine Drive. However, the Marine Drive in Kochi is not just a road name (its not a road, its a long walkway - a promenade along the lagoons of Kerala). Its an important tourist hangout in Kerala. The walkway contains two (one more in construction) bridges (one in the shape of a rainbow, and another in the shape of the Chinese fishing net). The next part of the walkway, which is nearing completion, leads the walkway upwards, to the top of a pyramid shaped building, and thereby to a park. It is also a premier boating centre, where you can hire traditional luxury houseboats to cruise the backwaters. A batching centre is also planned for the near future. Besides, Marine drive is also the name of a famous magazine, a famous golf course in Vancouver, and the name of a road in Chicago. So, I request the disambiguation page to be brought back. thunderboltz 14:36, 11 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I guess that makes sense. I agree to your decision to move the page. However, let me add that Google Fight is not a reliable method, because Mumbai is the 5th largest city in the world. You cannot compare it with Cochin, which is a much smaller city. thunderboltz 09:17, 12 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

moving account edit

I could notice you've moved my account from user:cacumer to the new user:caue.cm.rego. Thanks for that! :D

But I'm not too sure on what happened. I mean, looks like all my userpages are still on the old one, and if I try to manually move them to the new one, it says I can't because it's the same ID.

I will copy & paste if there's no other way, but I wonder if anything went wrong. Because copy & paste would be quite troublesome (I've got some inside-articles in my old userspace) and I'd also lose the history.

Thanks again for your time.

Change of user name Djrawlings to Fingolfin edit

Hi Nichalp, you've noted "Done" on my Request for username change (10 March), but my edits still seem to be attributed to "Djrawlings". A user named "Fingolfin" appears to have been created, but I don't know how to login as this user. I'm fairly new to Wikipedia: am I missing something obvious? or has something gone wrong with the change of username? Thanks in advance. User:Djrawlings 21:43, 11 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Afghan Church, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Problem Uploading Audio File edit

Hi Nichalp,

I have completed and uploaded the Spoken Wikipedia Entry on Mumbai. Today I also recorded the Indian Railways entry. When I was uploading, it took a lot a time so I stopped the uploading and resubmitted the upload page. This resulted in a sudden error message which said that the Wikipedia server can't be contacted. I tried using various methods like rebooting computer and even using a different browser, but I am always getting the same error message, almost instantaneously as I submit the querry. Is there a problem with the Server? I am having a gut feeling that my IP may have been blocked due to repeated upload requests. Can you please check it and fix it. Featured Article review edit

Hey Nichalp, I'm writing about the FAC review for the Military history of France. I believe I have addressed all of your requests, and I'd like you to take a second look. Thank you very much.UberCryxic 04:43, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I addressed your points and fixed the article. Please take another look when you have time. Thanks for your suggestions btw; they were very helpful.UberCryxic 17:24, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. Are you satisfied with the article now? If so, please come and cross out your objection. Otherwise, write to me at the FAC section about what I need to do to improve it more. I think right now you're the only person opposing, so if I can address your concerns as quickly as possible, then the FA process can move faster. Once again, thank you for your great ideas.UberCryxic 02:03, 18 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cricket - fielding pos graphic edit

Not at all, sir! All the positions (from all the existing images on wiki + references) that I could review are included with much better clarity :-) Do you see anything missing? Cheers! --ΜιĿːtalk 09:37, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

45 is "Backward short leg" (if you are refering to your created image). Besides, appreciate the clarity compared to the cluttered one. "Legends" (and some common sense) should clarify the "dots". --ΜιĿːtalk 10:08, 16 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
