May 2020 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Katlego Maboe, appears to have been inappropriate, and has been reverted. Please feel free to use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. What you added was not an external link. David Biddulph (talk) 23:01, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Chartered IT Professional. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. David Biddulph (talk) 23:04, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Sotho people. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Please read the MOS, including MOS:NOTSEEALSO. David Biddulph (talk) 23:07, 9 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to Chartered IT Professional have been reverted because you gave no evidence that the South African body is accredited to award the BCS CITP qualification which is the subject of this article. --David Biddulph (talk) 13:55, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Contributions edit

Hey. You expressed an interest on the Teahouse in learning how to contribute to Wikipedia. I noticed some of your recent edits were reverted. Here on Wikipedia, even if editors have good faith, they can be blocked if they consistently edit in a disruptive manner. I recommend signing up for WP:Adopt-a-User so an experienced editor can help you out. Hillelfrei talk 01:25, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

First, you need to put more in your Edit summaries than just "Context." Second, and much more important, you have been adding large amounts of content to articles without providing any references. All content in Wikipedia must be verified by references. Please return to such articles and add references or else all of your contributions will be reverted. Draft:Institute of Chartered IT Professional (SA) edit

It was unwise for you, as a new user, to move your sandbox draft directly to mainspace. If you had submitted it for AFC review it would have been declined as your only reference was from the subject organisation itself and there is no evidence of significant coverage in published independent reliable sources. If you try to create another new article, you ought to read the advice at WP:Your first article, and then if you are convinced that the subject is notable you can submit the draft for AFC review.

I had originally nominated it for speedy deletion under criterion G11 as clearly promotional, but as you are a newcomer I have moved the article to Draft namespace to give you an opportunity to improve it. You do need to make it less promotional, as even in Draft namespace it could be liable to deletion under G11. --David Biddulph (talk) 13:41, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
