Speedy deletion nomination of Amber Dalton edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Amber Dalton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 2601:188:0:ABE6:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 22:00, 8 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Amber Dalton edit

The article Amber Dalton has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Biography of an artist, with no rationale for notability, nor inclusion of reliable sources, other than a commercial website.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 2601:188:0:ABE6:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 03:06, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Newuser9001: I thought you might appreciate an explanation. You created an article on a gamer named Amber Dalton. After that was nominated for speedy deletion, someone else came along and changed it to be about a printmaker named Amber Dalton. Please take a look at Wikipedia:Notability (people). Can the gamer meet any of those criteria? Or for a more basic test, this page (with explanatory links) - if someone has been written about at length in 3 different newspaper articles, for example, they generally merit an article. If you can find a reason in the first of those two pages, or enough extended treatment of her under the second page, please let me know at User talk:Yngvadottir, or just create Amber Dalton (gamer) including the references. I don't know whether the artist article will be kept or deleted; if it is deleted and the gamer meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, the article can go back to being about the gamer without qualification. But since right now there are two people, best to create it under the new title. I'm also going to ping Drmies here; he is an admin who edited Amber Dalton after it was changed to be about the artist, and he can help sort the articles out if we wind up having both (which would be cool!) Yngvadottir (talk) 17:25, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Aha! Yes, I was finding material for both, but didn't, when I looked at the history, see the summary for the first edit. Interesting. User:Yngvadottir, what we should do is split them up and treat them separately. Drmies (talk) 18:21, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • OK, the article for the gamer is now a separate article but, Yngvadottir, it needs a lot of help. If you look for news items you'll find a couple. Happy editing, Drmies (talk) 18:24, 9 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
