Hi, Kelly: I left you a note on my user page. You should have had a "new messages" notification at the top of your screen when you signed in, but I am leaving a note here in case I made a mistake. Regards, Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 22:57, 16 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, I am sorry, I didn't realise that all of that material was from The Friars website. Fr. Francis who is the Prior there wrote it and emailed it to me so I could put it on. You're right, I have no idea what I am doing. I just wanted to add all of the history of the place onto wikipedia so others can find out about it. Do I basically need to put it all in my own words? Is that what you are saying? Maybe if I do it bit by bit and add the references etc.. that might be better?

Thank you NewsletterKelly (talk) 11:07, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Copyrighted material at Aylesford Priory edit

I was dismayed to see that you have, once again, added text to Aylesford Priory that is a duplication of the text that is COPYRIGHTED on their website. By doing so, twice, you run the risk of being blocked from editing. See the talk page of the article for further comments.

When you received the first copyright notice on the talk page in July, you stated that you understood the notice, yet you have, once again, copied from the website. Such continued activity could lead to your account being blocked, which I DO NOT want to see happen, as I believe you can be an excellent source for the original material that was used to produce the website info.

Please do not add further text, unless it has been totally rewritten versus the website text. I suggest that you first add the text to your personal "sandbox". Once you are signed in to WP, you can access this at the top of the screen by clicking on Sandbox.

Paste your rewritten text in your sandbox and hit publish. Then click on "Edit source"at the top of the page, then click on Page--> then Tools--> then copyright vio detector. A comparison of your text vs any other text available on the internet, will appear. You will be able to diagnose any problems.

If you have access to people at the Priory, you may be able to access the original print source documents that were consulted to write the website text. You could consult those sources to write your own text for the WP article, and then cite them as sources. Sources do not necessarily have to be internet sources, print is fine, altho there is a different format for citing them, i.e. "cite book" or "cite journal", etc. I am happy to help, if needed.

Expanding this article is a worthy pursuit, and I applaud your intent. Please take the time to do it correctly, and respect the copyright ownership of other people's words. See WP: C-P, which contains the best/easiest explaination and WP:PLAG. Best, Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 22:59, 5 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
