Speedy deletion nomination of Cornell United Religious Work edit

A tag has been placed on Cornell United Religious Work requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Cornell Catholic Community edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Cornell Catholic Community, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.cornellcatholic.org/about/index.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Images edit

Hi. I notice you have been trying to add "File:Father Bob 4.jpg" as an image to the article Father Robert S. Smith. However, I've just done a quick check, and I don't see any such file having been uploaded to either Wikipedia or to Wikimedia commons, which is what you have to do to use an image. There's information about images at Wikipedia:Uploading images, which you might find of some help - please feel free to shout if I can be of any assistance. September 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Cornell Catholic Community has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2200011686#!/group.php?gid=2200011686&v=wall.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Greetings from the Cornell University WikiProject edit

Hello Newman3535- I am a member of WikiProject Cornell University, and I noticed your creation of the articles, e.g., Father Robert S. Smith and Cornell Catholic Community. There has been little coverage of religion on campus in the past, so I welcome your contributions. I would like to give you a friendly heads-up, however, that your username might be considered inappropriate according to Wikipedia policy. Usernames such as yours which appear to represent an organization (i.e., the Newman Club) instead of a person are forbidden by certain policies. Good and productive users have had their accounts closed for breaking this username policy in the past, so while your account is still young, I suggest you proactively abandon it and instead create a new account which only identifies you as an individual. You can then continue to contribute to Wikipedia however you wish to. Best of wishes to you! —Bill Price (nyb) 16:39, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • I want to also welcome you to Wikipedia. I understand that there are an overwhelming number of rules here (and perhaps a few people who enforce the rules to the point of pettiness), but basically this is a welcoming community that must operate where we can't see each other or directly assess each other's credibilty. So there is no way to tell if someone is a college trustee or chaplain vs. a high school kid. With that in mind, the rules help us cope with a very open environment where we all assume good faith. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Mass2.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Mass2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 07:30, 21 September 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 07:30, 21 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Mass2.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Mass2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:19, 24 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to File:Father Bob.jpg has been reverted, as it appears to have removed content from the page without explanation. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you.
