How to copy content from one article to another edit

The edit summary field appears above the "Save page" button.

Hi. First, welcome to Wikipedia. :) We're happy for your contributions. I noticed that you moved content from one article to another. This is perfectly fine, if the content is appropriate to both articles, but since content on Wikipedia is not public domain, there are steps we have to follow to avoid copyright infringement. They aren't difficult and involve primarily use of the "edit summary".

What we are required to do, at minimum, is provide a direct link to the source article, noting that material has been copied and that attribution can be found there. You can see here that I have done this for you at Medical imaging. When doing it yourself, you would typically add something like this:

Content copied from [[Fiduciary marker]], which see for attribution.

It's also a good idea to put a note in the article you've copied from. (See [1].)

If you copy a lot of content, we request that you put a note on the talk pages of the articles, too. We have created a "template" to do this that makes it much easier: Template:Copied. Directions for using it are in the colored box on the page. I have placed this on both pages (see Talk:Medical imaging for example).

I've provided attribution in this case, but if you copy content from one article to another in the future, please be sure to follow these steps. More detail and the reasoning behind it is explained at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy working here. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:33, 29 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Image filenames edit

Hello, please do not add the words "free use" to image filenames; it breaks links to the images. Thanks. Graham87 14:30, 9 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
