Welcome edit

Hello, Neptune's Ivory! Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. You may benefit from following some of the links below, which will help you get the most out of Wikipedia. If you have any questions you can ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking   or by typing four tildes "~~~~"; this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you are already loving Wikipedia you might want to consider being "adopted" by a more experienced editor or joining a WikiProject to collaborate with others in creating and improving articles of your interest. Click here for a directory of all the WikiProjects. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field. Happy editing! Road Wizard (talk) 13:17, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Edit summaries edit

The reason we encourage edit summaries is to help other editors understand why you have done an action. For example, if an editor removes a line of text without an edit summary it may look like vandalism to another editor and get reverted; on the other hand if an editor removes a line of text with the edit summary "removing factual error, this did not happen until later" then other editors will see it as a genuine edit and are less likely to revert your edit without more thorough checking. Also, it helps editors looking back through the edit history of the article to see when different changes were made. See Help:Edit summary for more information.
If you have any further questions, just let me know. Regards. Road Wizard (talk) 20:50, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
