October 2013 edit

Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Neil Marr. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Proposed deletion of Neil Marr edit

The article Neil Marr has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one.   Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Neil Marr may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. Your comments at User talk:A930913 edit

Since your comments at User talk:A930913 were unrelated to BracketBot or brackets, this likely is a better place to reply.

Wikipedia strongly discourages autobiographies due to the obvious conflict of interest. Furthermore, it's not at all clear to me that you satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines. For that you wouldn't just need to be an author, but others should have written about you in some detail. We require multiple third-party sources such as newspaper articles about you or book reviews (if they cover you, and not just the book, in some detail). On citing such sources, see WP:Referencing for beginners. But again, due to your conflict of interest it's not a good idea to write about yourself; if you're notable, sooner or later some uninvolved editor will write an article about you, and it's best to wait.

You don't seem to have recently edited under any username other than this one; while there is a User:Neil Marr, he hasn't made any edits for years, and we don't have User:Neilmarr or User:NeilMarr. Yours, Huon (talk) 18:54, 24 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
