        • Well, it no longer seems like advertising. There is a second problem, though: the article doesn't cite reliable independent sources that show how the company meets the notability standards of WP:CORP. The only sources cited are the company's own website and what appear to be sites that reprint the company's PR releases. See WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 00:08, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello! You have deleted a page entitled "Deborah Presley Brando", she was married to Christian Brando, elder child of actor Marlon Brando. here is an internal link to her husband Christian, where you can see it's talking about her in the marriage section. Please be informed that Kimleemodel has created a Wikipedia page about herself, once again, despite the fact that it was recently deleted due to lack of notability. Bernardo Herzer

edit

I would like to add a bio page for Captain Bernardo J. Herzer. You have deleted it twice for "blatant advertising." However, LEHR has NO products on the market for sale as they did a licensing deal in 2010 with another company. I am by no means trying to sell product or promote a company through this entry but I do feel that he is a notable individual in many aspects. I have noticed many other individual pages that list the specific awards that their inventions have recieved. What portions can I edit/delete in order for my information to stay up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PropaneIsSafe (talkcontribs) 21:26, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello, my page on Justin Hayward Coker was deleted, this was a page on a fictional charector i am working on for a new book i am writing, i am a bit saddened that this would be named a 'Blatent hoax', and truthfully, a little mad, i have worked at least an hour on this, as an addition to explain my new book, As time Settles, this is to provide a brief presetting for that book, i just want to ask if you could un-delete it for me, this is probably going to be a no, as youhave no reliable information, but why else would i post it and waste my time on something i didn't need or a prank. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thedirtymaverick (talkcontribs) 22:31, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Eminem Song List

edit

Hi, you just deleted the page "Eminem song list" as you said it's have his discography page. The thing is it's have more than the half of his songs that aren't on his discography/discography page. Just wondering why you deleted it and if it's possible to replace it as well. thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OlivierBrisson (talkcontribs) 20:23, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Alright, I see the point there. Maybe my list was too rough at the moment. A thing someone pointed me though is that The Beatles have their own Beatles discography and the songs list List of Beatles songs on wikipedia, so is it possible to replace mine for Eminem? Maybe we can "polish" my list though. Thanks.

--OlivierBrisson (talk) 19:58, 15 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Alright, thanks a lot! I started something, so if you can take a look at it and say me if something's wrong, tell me before I go too further User:OlivierBrisson/List of Eminem songs. Also, I tryed to do like The Beatles table, but it's looks like it's specific to them, so I question myself about if I'm supposed to have a special table to do this or something like that since the code isn't the same.

Also, I wanted to know how I'll do in the future since it's seems to have a maximum of lines that I can add to the table, so another time, am I supposed to have a special table for this.

And also another question, is it possible to other people to change/modify the table since it's on my account, or it's doesn't matter and people can change it if I give them the URL? Because I don't think I'll do all this by myself quick, but with help it'll go faster.

Anyway, thanks another time to accept the idea of this page!

--OlivierBrisson (talk) 02:44, 16 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Alright, I did a little text paragraph and I contacted Wikipedia:Village pump/Technical for the table. I just want to know if it's possible to make a 'talk' page about the User:OlivierBrisson/List of Eminem songs for people who want to add song etc, for me to add it instead of them to add it on the table to keep it cleaner as possible. Thanks again!

Blenko Project Deletion

edit

Vyb5b (talk) 03:42, 17 July 2011 (UTC) HELLO, you just deleted my blenko project webpage. The Blenko Project is dedicated to recording the past, analyzing the present and being an advocate for the growth and preservation of blenko glass in West Virginia. It is not a personal website. Its website to spread word about blenko glass and to provide a forum to discuss blenko. It is a legitimate project with intentions to preserve history and culture of Blenko glass. Details can be found below. http://www.herald-dispatch.com/news/x835523024/Blenko-collectors-sought-for-preservation-project Blenko is becoming a lost art. With the current economy, it is almost on the verge of shutting down. By spreading the word through wiki, the goal is to make people aware of it, so an important part of WV history is not lost. The project is registered as a non-profit organization, and is part of WV historic preservation mission. I am new to wiki, and I was writing about why it must be on wiki, before you deleted it. Also, none of us make money from this. The owner of blenko project is a dentist and I am a researcher. All people involved do this as public service. Infact, the owner of the blenko project was awarded the marion blenko award for public service to blenko in 2007.Reply

Can you please help me with getting the link up again? I am new to wiki, so please excuse any mistakes I made that let you to delete the page. Thanks, VYB5B Vyb5b (talk) 03:42, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Vyb5b (talk) 10:12, 17 July 2011 (UTC) Hello, This project has been cited in news paper, and is part of WV's historic preservation mission. It is also recognized by the blenko company. Richard Blenko the current Blenko president can vouch for it. So I think it satisfies the two criteria for a non-commercial organization.Reply

from the link you sent.

1- The scope of their activities is national or international in scale.

The organization is recognized by WV foundation, its mission and impact have been in newspaper and on Television. The project is also recognized by WVU. I did not include this link because it would have been self promotion. But I think this link shows how important the group is to the preservation of blenko glass in US. http://www.wvuf.org/node/21472 . Note: Hillary homburg leads the project.

Blenko glass is becoming one of several lost AMERICAN art. This project aims to preserve this fast-fading art by making more people aware of it. Its mission and impact are of national importance.

2-Information about the organization and its activities can be verified by multiple,[1] third-party, independent, reliable sources.

President of Blenko (Richard Blenko), and WV foundation can vouch for the organization and verify that all the information is accurate. Again its not for profit. It is to preserve a lost art.

I am unable to see how any of the criteria for a non-commercial organization to be notable are not met. Vyb5b (talk) 10:12, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Vyb5b (talk) 16:06, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello Nawlinwiki: Mr Blenko has nothing to do with the project. He is not in any way related to the Blenko project. How do you define independent sources? WV foundation is a foundation that preserves culture of VW. it is an independent organization and has no vested interest in blenko project. PBS also ran an issue on the blenko project. The blenko project was also recognized by WV governer (Joe Manchin). http://www.blenkoproject.org/ Will that help? Can you please let me know what proof is needed? Your one line remarks to detailed response is insulting to the spirit of service. Please note that none of us are making money out of it. Its an historic preservation project. My sole involvement is of service nature. Can you please let me know what is the best way to proceed? What proof is needed to show its notable and to get this on wiki? Also if it would help, blenko project is a registered non-profit organization, will a proof of that help? Many such organizations are listed on Wiki. AID India is one such example. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_for_India's_Development Vyb5b (talk) 16:06, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • From Talk Page Stalker: Dear Vyb5b, "independent" is defined according to the dictionary. So that blenkoproject website, whatever is on it, cannot function as a reference to verify important information that establishes notability. That you point at Association for India's Development doesn't help much, really--that an article on a possibly non-notable subject exists does not imply we should add another. In fact, there is a guideline for that--WP:OTHERSTUFF. For an organization such as yours (whether commercial or not is beside the point: Wikipedia does not favor altruism over capitalism) to become notable by our standards, extensive, independent coverage which discusses the subject in-depth is necessary. Thank you, and good luck, Drmies (talk) 16:33, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • The AID article lacked independent sources, but I just found and added one. That is the kind of publication that helps toward notability. Drmies (talk) 16:39, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Vyb5b (talk) 17:39, 17 July 2011 (UTC) Dear Drmies.Reply

I dont understand why an article is book is considered independent, and articles in newspaper, TV and recognition by governor not considered independent. I have given link for those above. Do you want another proof? if so what, please let me know. also, do you and nawlin work for wikipedia? I am not sure whom do I answer to and what is required. It is clear that you people are just being unreasonable, and I dont know why. I just want to know what kind of independent citation you need? Nawlin has declined citation from newspaper, TV, WV foundation, WV university and governer's office. I have been sending and can send other links too if needed.

thanks

Vyb5b (talk) 18:05, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

WHat do I see on talk page? I still cannot figure out what is needed. I was in the process of writing when nawlin deleted it. i had written just 2 lines then. I am not sure how am I to cite independent sources when random people can delete it at their free will. It would make sense if he/she read the whole article and then decided that there is no independent source. Deleting it while its being written is disrespectful and abuse of admin rights. nawlin did that. he/she deleted the page without asking for an explanation or justification. I want to put the article back up again, and if no one deletes it, I will include citations from other websites and news sources. If you let me finish, you will see that the article I write will have more independent citations. Also, the news paper runs a daily blog where they feature the efforts of blenko project. http://herald-dispatchblogs04.blogspot.com/ this blog is owned by the news paper, and not the person. It is on the news paper's website.

Vyb5b (talk) 18:05, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • The blog is written by Hillary Homburg, who says "Since 2005, Homburg has spent all her free time on the BLENKO PROJECT at www.blenkoproject.org." In other words, it's not independent, even if the newspaper is hosting the webspace. Please read Drmies's comments on your talk page. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:16, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Vyb5b (talk) 18:37, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I am not Hillary Homburg. Again what type of proof is needed ? Will a certificate of it being non-profit organization do? A copy of tape of the PBS documentry do? Letter from richard blenko? Article citing governer's recognition? One of the main reasons for this push on wiki is that the project has virtually no online presence. I see that may other organizations are online without any independent citations. I hoenstly dont understand what type of proof is needed. if you give more details, it will be good. Is this norm of wikipedia or is it my bad luck that I ran into you?

Also, the other person is just being unreasonable. You allow AID india online without any independenrt citations. I cite several here, and you decline them. IT IS ABUSE OF YOUR ADMIN RIGHTS.

Vyb5b (talk) 18:37, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

    • (1) Shouting ABUSE is not the way to get what you want. (2) You said "the project has virtually no online presence". Basically, that's the problem. No matter how worthy or important you think this organization is, that's not how we decide which articles stay here. What matters is recognition by independent, reliable sources, as we've told you repeatedly. Offering a letter from Mr. Blenko shows that you still aren't getting the notion of **independent** sourcing. If you can't find sources that we can refer to, the article will just have to wait until such sources are developed. NawlinWiki (talk) 22:24, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
      • FWIW, AID now has half a dozen references--from published books. NawlinWiki, it's obvious that we have a case of WP:HEAR hear, which is why I referred the editor to the Request for Feedback page, since you and I can repeat things only so often. Drmies (talk) 00:00, 18 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

    • Hi, my name is Jackie and I was in the process of creating a Wikipedia page about the company I work for, Borshoff, a communications agency in Indianapolis. Borshoff has been around for the past 26 years and has had local, national and international clients. Our content was quickly deleted by you saying it was promotional. However, policy G11 also states that an article about a company or a product which describes its subject from a neutral point of view does not qualify for deletion. May we please have permission to add Borshoff to Wikipedia? If not, please explain in detail why this won't be allowed? I don't see why Fleishman-Hillard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleishman-Hillard) or Hill & Knowlton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hill_%26_Knowlton) can have a page about their services and Borshoff can't.

  • Well, your article got deleted and you recreated it a couple of times, pretty much the same way each time. The language was hardly neutral (Terminator 3 is not "your" movie), there didn't seem to be a real viable claim to notability (see WP:N), and no references proving notability (see WP:MUSIC) were given. NawlinWiki might could userfy the article for you, that is, put it in a sandbox in your user space so you can work on it, but simply sticking it back in a couple of times gains no favors. I think NawlinWiki loves country music and perhaps they can help, but it's best, in my opinion, to do that work before you go live with the article. Good luck, Drmies (talk) 04:17, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Fanned-fret guitar manufacturer not noteable?

edit

What can I do to stop my article about Dingwall Designer Guitars from getting deleted? Wikipedia told me it was deleted because the topic was not notable. The article is talking all about fanned-frets, where fanned-frets came from, and what makes them different than guitars without fanned frets. There were several third-party sources I found regarding this topic, and I linked to them. Very little about fanned-frets exists on Wikipedia, but this is a topic that many musicians today want to learn more about. Why is this topic not considered noteable and what can I do to make the article notable?Wellobviously (talk) 14:35, 22 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I don't think you were intending to recreate an article you just deleted - were you intending to put this on the AFD discussion page? NawlinWiki (talk) 14:54, 22 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Yes, indeed. That seemed (to me) to be a screamingly obvious mistake on my part, which would have been better corrected with a move-without-redirect. Did you check the articles history prior to deleting the page? - Aaron Brenneman (talk) 15:33, 22 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

A Question

edit

Hello,

I am inquiring about why the page I created, "Apache Power Industrial," was deleted. I was informed that it seemed to be promoting the company, or used for marketing purposes.

These are not my intentions. I was trying to remain objective and I am not trying to tell anyone anything!

I would think that giving some background information and history about the company would not be "promotion," it is just general facts about the company.

If you were concerned about the list of products, I assure you that it is just information about what the company does. It would not make sense if I wrote an article about a company and I did not even mention something as basic as what the company sells.

Could you give me any suggestions to how I can make my article acceptable? If you could give me some advise, I would be most grateful!

Thank you, have a good day. Asobota (talk) 15:36, 22 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion

edit

Dear Sir/Madam, The article I submitted giving my views on the website "TechyV" was deleted. The error says "unambiguous advertising" but does praising a website also fall in this category? I am sorry if this in any way disturbed you. Regards. Mustafa.rehana (talk) 21:11, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mustafa
I hope NawlinWiki doesn't mind me replying to this but I may be able to explain things to you.
Being an admin, I've been able to look at the page that you created even though it's been deleted. I have to say that I fully agree with NawlinWiki's deletion of the page. In my view, the page only served to promote the website because it was explaining about various services of the website. It did not explain why the website is notable enough to be included in Wikipedia. I suggest that you read Wikipedia's notability guidelines for websites, if the website meets these then it may be that it can be re-added to the encyclopedia but you would need to be clear why it's notable and you wouldn't be able to write it in a promotional tone. If it doesn't meet those guidelines, then I'm afraid it can't be re-added. I hope this helps.--5 albert square (talk) 21:33, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Michael H. Herson

edit

I would just like to lodge a complaint about your deletion of this article. It was a problematic article to be sure, I first came across it while scanning the new pages and it was a blatant copyright violation that looked to have been created from an account with a conflict of interest. Reading it though I thought there might be a possibility that he was notable and so I overwrote the copyright violation with a short stub and set out to do what work I could to improve it. That said your deletion was in error because,

  1. The article cited two reliable sources at the time you deleted it. That is in indication that it might possibly pass the WP:GNG and therefor is an assertion of notability.
  2. An inspection of the page history would reveal that it was actively being worked on by an established editor. By this I mean not that I have any special immunity greater than that of a newbie but that a reasonable assumption would be that I knew what I was doing.

I understand that there is so much junk that needs to be deleted and so few admins to do it that you have very little time for each article however also consider my point of view. It was very disconcerting to have a page I was working on blasted out from under me, especially as I was coming back with another reliable source (the best one I had found so far) to add just as you deleted it. I would like the article to be undeleted so that I may continue work on it. If I find it to be non-notable I will be PRODing it myself. jorgenev 00:26, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • OK, will do. It would help if next time, even if you make the article a very short stub, you put in a sentence to indicate why the person is notable (just being a lobbyist, even one mentioned in a news article, would not be enough by itself, I think). her album was well received by music critics that you can see from here: http://www.metacritic.com/music/the-magic-place
and also she was a part of Pitchfork Music Festival this year.
it's a shame that Wikipedia which is the best place for exploring new informations doesn't have any page for her and also for her album. i was trying to make a page and then gather more information about her and add them there and then make a page for her album. i want to ask you please retrieve the page and let us expand it.
Thank you. Reza.J (Talk2Me) 13:19, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Tasty 168

edit

I noticed your deletion of Tasty 168 and I don't think it fell under speedy A7. The claim that it is the largest bubble tea chain in North America seems like a claim of notability to me, and A7 is very strict ("The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source or does not qualify on Wikipedia's notability guidelines."). As such, I've recreated the article with some additional references and cleaned-up writing; I've also tagged it with a potential notability warning. My initial instinct is to flag it to some users from Toronto who might be better equipped than me to dig up additional sourcing, and, if they can't, delete it in a few months. But this wasn't a candidate for speedy--at worst, it deserved PROD. Let me know if you disagree or have other suggestions on the article. Thanks! Meelar (talk) 20:06, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletions

edit

Hello! I recently noticed that you deleted Lekill lines under A1. I'm rather skeptical as to whether or not it really met the A1 criterion, and am rather surprised that it was deleted as A1 within just four minutes, but I'll trust your judgement on that. However, I think it would have been better if you informed the author that you deleted his article- he might have ended up confused as to why his article suddenly vanished without much of an explanation. Also, just to comment as I saw something on your talk page that caught my eye- I think that Black Dot Vodka shouldn't have been deleted under A7. First of all, as a product brand, it doesn't fall under A7. Secondly, your explanation to the editor who asked about the article cited notability as a prerequisite for inclusion. I'm sure that you understand that A7 is a lower standard than notability, and that an article can not be notable but still significant enough to not be eligible for A7 speedy deletion- and, as it won an award, I'd say that it would be significant enough to not be eligible for speedy deletion. G11, however, probably did apply, although I can't see the article. --Slon02 (talk) 00:08, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with Slon02 on both articles. I reviewed the deleted articles and they don't appear to qualify as A1 or A7. I think Lekill lines could have been G3 and Black Dot Vodka was certainly a G11. About the only thing that could've have been considered not promotional in the Vodka article was the lead sentence.--v/r - TP 12:59, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

MyCoupons LLC

edit

I'm looking to add this company to Wikipedia. Currently it's been deleted and I have 2 requests:

1. Please restore it to my userspace 2. Please explain the process to getting this article on Wikipedia.

Thanks!

  • I have userfied per your request. As to your questions, first, you need to get rid of the promotional language such as "Powered by a team of pros" and "launched with a vision". Second, all the sources you cite are either MyCoupon itself or reprints of MyCoupon press releases. They are not the independent coverage, demonstrating notability, described in WP:V and WP:CORP. • Okay, I have spent some time cleaning up the promotional language. Could you take a look now and see if it's improved at all? I believe it's a much more neutral stance on the company. I also added a few independent sources. I'm looking to get this approved as soon as I can, do you have any other tips for me to help this page stay alive?

  • Next problem is your independent sources (CBS, Fox, MSNBC) - none of them even mention MyCoupon. They appear to be about another one of Mr. Wolfe's companies. Unless you can find independent sources that discuss how MyCoupon itself is notable, this isn't going to work. NawlinWiki (talk) 12:11, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

      • Your "independent source" CBS Atlanta states: "Information contained on this page is provided by companies via press release distributed through PR Newswire, an independent third-party content provider. PR Newswire, WorldNow and this Station make no warranties or representations in connection therewith. SOURCE Wolfe, LLC" I'm frankly getting tired of you trying to trick us into accepting Wolfe's own PR as "independent sourcing". And in reviewing your contributions, it looks like your only goal here is to promote Mr. Wolfe and his businesses. Given your goals, I don't think this article is ever going to be acceptable. Snitch

edit

No, I'm not calling you one. An IP who's fond of adding 50 Cent to the snitch article has done it again. I reverted his/her edit, but I'm not sure what level of warning is appropriate here, given the history this particular IP has with this particular article. Since you're the admin who administered the most recent warning, I thought I'd pass the buck. --Fullobeans (talk) 21:29, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
