Before this is added to the article its first needs sourcing for the data and also needs a major formatting fix. You can work on this right here if you like. Do you have were the info comes from? -- Moxy (talk) 17:11, 25 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dougweller i made one unsourced thing and Moxy already gave me info u say it as if i made 2 or more unsourced post PS Native wisdom to you NativePride98 (talk) 22:13, 1 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

It's important to source all population numbers. A century old book can't be used for obvious reasons. You need to read WP:RS carefully. Dougweller (talk) 05:45, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Dougweller what if i made a chart of pre-contact California tribe populations using Alfred L, Kloeber estimates since he did actual research and excavations on that stuff would that be alright?

also Koebers populations statistics NativePride98 (talk) 02:33, 4 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Tarascan state may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

You got some good advice there. I strongly suggest you read WP:AGF as well - there are racist editors on WP, but we aren't among them. Dougweller (talk) 05:47, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Classifications

edit

Hi NativePride98, thanks for your work on the Indigenous classification articles. The classifications are loosely based on those defined by the Smithsonian, since they are one of the few organizations that have created comprehensive systems for both North and South America.

Of course, the cultural regions aren't set in stone, and it would be possible to create a Great Lakes region independent of the Northeastern Woodlands or a Prairie region independent of the Plains, since those tribes especially tend to get overlooked. Also, it's totally fine if a group spans multiple regions, as the Anishinaabe span several.

I've found NMAI's "Cultural Thesaurus" to be the most easy-to-access online listing of tribes and their classifications. You will probably want to provide citations for your edits and need to provide explanations in the edit summary for any removal of previously cited information. Happy editing!
