I believe the professor has met the requirements of being "notable" by being cited in hundreds of academic journals, and he has been published in over 100 journals, several of which are cited in this article. In academics, the article may have his name on it, buy by being selected for publication in that journal is the independent source you are looking for. Most of these journals have about a 30% acceptance rate, and he has been published over 100 times. Please consider that "independent" sources in academia are these journals, several of which have been included here regarding his groundbreaking SCCT theory.
