Readers of this Wikipedia article may find my novel Thursday Afternoon (freely available at https://archive.org/details/ThursdayAfternoon160507) of interest for enriching the 247 page. While the main characters and story are fictional, the work was carried out largely to put in writing some anecdotes for which I could not find external documentation, and there has been an attempt to provide an entertaining read while giving a sense of the time as told to me by a number of people who lived through the events discussed. I hope that it will inspire other contributions to provide a richer understanding and context to the history, and possibly provide some support (or even alternate versions) of the anecdotes, both for this page and others.

2020-3-31: I note that 124 Wing is listed as RCAF. Given that my father was at that time in the RAF, in 247 Squadron, and part of 124 Wing of the RAF, I believe there is an error here. Refer, for example, to "Rise from the East, the story of 247 squadron" by David Marchant.
