Please allow me to re-edit my contirbution

For Robert C. Davila I did not mean to do a resume, just a biography. But I do not want to start from zero again. Please allow me access to what I wrote, and I will remove all indications of resume, and leave only biographical information.

Thanks

PS. EMail address is Roberto_C_Davila@hotmail.com.

Morning Robert. There are a number of problems to address here; firstly, looking at your CV I struggle to find any indication that the notability requirements for biographies are met and secondly we have a bit of a conflict of interest issue - writing autobiographies on Wikipedia is discouraged for reasons of maintaining neutrality; the rule of thumb is that if you are notable enough to have an article then likely someone else will see fit to create it. That all said I am perfectly happy to assume good faith and so I will move the deleted article to User:Rcdavila/sandbox where you can work on it. When you have finished if you drop me a line I will review it, and, if it conforms to wikipedia's requirements we will take it from there. Good luck! kind regards, nancy (talk) 08:37, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Palladio

Thank-you for improving the work I have done on Palladio. The template for his villas looks much better now, but the image of Palladio has apparently been superseded, and I am not sure how to replace it. --Alan (talk) 09:03, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

No problem - it was a pleasure to work on something I am genuinely interested in for a change! With regard to the image problem, it would seem that it is not currently possible to use the .png from commons because a different image of the same name exists on Wikipedia. I am going to see of there is any way that this can be resolved - e.g. by moving one or the other to a different name but in the meantime it's nothing to worry about as the original is not in danger of being deleted. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 10:13, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Morgardshammar

Nancy, what I add is partly copied from the website of Morgardshammar Ab and it is a brief summary of the history. Cannons and Handel

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, Cannons is rather tricky. I found myself writing things about Handel's association with the place and then thinking I haven't got it quite right. I am going to see if I can find more information about what he was doing there in printed sources. --Alan (talk) 16:33, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Please don't delete entries

I'm working on a serious and well-researched entry on Rodes Vila, and you deleted within minutes of its creation and in the middle of editing. He meets criteria for notability (I referred to an AdWeek article; there would have been others), and your deletion simply isn't justified by Wikipedia policy.

Please restore the entry, or provide a much more detailed explanation of your motivations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nuj (talkcontribs) 19:47, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Salvatore Cusato aka Casco

Sorry, I didn't notice that a deletion by AfD was necessary. On the other hand, this same article was deleted twice, once as a result of a prod and one as a speedy deletion (see here), and the almost homonymous article Salvatore Cusato was itself prodded and deleted. In a sense I'd say that the cumulative evidence is against this article. Happy editing, Goochelaar (talk) 20:23, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

a source of cobalt? at least of download

This (from a user learning to be a developer) is in reference to deletion question in wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobalt_croquet —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.73.68.214 (talk) 06:31, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

On the referenced link on the arbitrated wiki page : —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.231.41.25 (talk) 18:09, 8 March 2008 (UTC) http://www.opencroquet.org/index.php/Cobalt link 2 under it has download

pre-alpha release of download of cobalt : http://croquet-src-01.oit.duke.edu/cobalt.html

Croquet is interactive collaboration funded by Alan Kay who spent 30 years reaching kids with far out ideas and won the Kioto prize in 2004.

I visited my virtual grandchildren to illustrate digital art composition with Maya personal learning edition and have experienced much excitement doing difficult programming getting out visual 3D graphics. Smalltalk teaches kids what programming is about and motivating them with 3D virtual reality is a good thing.

The croquet consortium has references to tutorial by Americo in Brazil. Though his English is bad and instructs on doing things on a PC I have gained much courage from his tutorial to do it on a macintosh computer. I've downloaded his image for his second tutorial but have been sidetracked. A number of tutorials are coming out and were disclosed on croquet user list.

If my language is correct, cobalt is a new improved image of croquet. I have downloaded the prebeta and croquet appears as "the engine" while cobalt the file it runs which has all the runtime interpreted frameworks that do things live as you change them in programming them.

Here is a reference to tutorials : http://opencroquet.org/index.php/Tutorials

Oh, and the original announcement on croquet user by the author : http://xaverse.blogspot.com/2008/03/cobalt-released.html

Hi there 192.231.41.25 and thank for you comments - I presume they are prompted by the fact that Cobalt croquet has been nominated for deletion. Whilst I am of course interested in what you have to say, a better forum might be the article's deletion discussion page so that your views have a wider audience and will be considered when making the final decision as to whether the article is appropriate for Wikipedia. kind regards, nancy (talk) 07:48, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you :

I've posted allegation of cobalt user on peer to peer at your recommended location : speculate cobalt has two peers share their worlds without server as per http://www.nabble.com/forum/ViewPost.jtp?post=15870402&framed=y

Incidently, I did a little show to one person at a computer club of the idea of croquet and this gave me the courage to find what I was looking for to write this up. It was a lame demonstration of postcard as xml to tell a 3D world address which exercise fleshes out what you want to do over extended distances. I could do the exercise on one computer of going from one world to another while connected to a wifi network. People would get scared when I tried to do it on two computers, mine and theirs and I wouldn't get to show the idea. I might write to the croquet user list to have someone decide when to try what I want "postcard as xml" through Jabber or iChat to see if the KAT really does internet WAN peer to peer which could get me to playing with these kids in California that I showed graphics of Maya to years ago.

After they agree to experiment and time, I could post the nabble reference archiving their response to the discussion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.231.41.25 (talk) 19:38, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello Queens Judo. Best place to start would be to check out the notablity requirements for organisations - in essence an organisation needs to have had coverage in multiple independent sources. I am guessing from your username that you are in someway connected with the club - in which case you also need to be very careful to remain neutral. Hope this helps, good luck with your editing, nancy (talk) 21:56, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

tea card

You speedied tea card even though it has been a requested article for some time. I don't know what the content is, but surely it should be a stub at least? Or at least a redirect? Do you have the deleted content, I can't access it. Nfitz (talk) 22:27, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello Nfitz. It was speedied as db-empty - if you look at User:Nfitz/Sandbox you'll see why as I have copied the content to your user space for you. As you will see it was more of a test page than even a stub; if there was any savagable content I would have rescued it myself but there really isn't anything to work with so I suspect you will be starting from scratch. Good luck anyway! Kind regards, nancy (talk) 08:41, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm amazed that after so many years such an article hasn't appeared yet, given I'd have thought everyone in Canada and the UK would know what tea cards are. Nfitz (talk) 07:06, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Romney Lock

Hi- Is that Windsor Castle on the skyline? Motmit (talk) 17:37, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes it is - the photo was taken looking back up river towards Windsor. nancy (talk) 18:00, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Its good to have lock pics that put them in context rather than closeups of narrowboats that could be anywhere. Boulter's is a very good replacement Regards Motmit (talk) 18:26, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your kind words. I spend quite a lot of time on the River so am now on a mission to get really good lock pictures for all the articles that are missing them; now is a good time of year as we are often the only boat fool enough to go out so it is possible to get relatively uncluttered shots. nancy (talk) 18:31, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
And bridges and islands? Motmit (talk) 18:38, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes, absolutely - I'll go check out the articles and see what's needed. nancy (talk) 18:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Also, just checking back though photos I have already and have found a reasonable (i.e. it's only got a small lump of boat in it) one of Victoria Bridge, Datchet which I'll upload now. nancy (talk) 19:17, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Its not just reasonable - its a cracker - the foreground boat makes it a lovely composition Motmit (talk) 19:38, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Why thank you, you are too kind. nancy (talk) 20:07, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to be a bore, but can I bring to your attention my discussion with user:Drbdavid. He is a new user and has got hold of some EA pics which he has started to load onto Wiki (apparently with their consent). Its the sort of thing that seems to cause difficulties if you get it wrong and I don't want him to get discouraged. On the other hand I may be interfering unnecessarily. Any chance that you could advise? Regards Motmit (talk) 07:49, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
You were right to be concerned. I have read the conversations and looked at the licensing Drbdavid has placed on the images and in the light of this have nominated them for speedy deletion. The EA site has a clear and unambiguous copyright notice and until we see evidence that the EA have released these photographs in to the public domain then they simply must go. I have left a personal note on Drbdavid's talk page explaining why I have nominated the images for speedy and encouraging him to perhaps look towards contributing his own work going forwards. nancy (talk) 09:49, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Gulab

hi nancy!

who are you? and what do you do? you edited my article on gulab khandelwal. THanks! It's still on for "speedy deletion" i don't konw why. I have included plenty of references.

nupur —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ghungru n (talkcontribs) 19:35, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Don't worry Ghungru, it is not up for speedy deletion anymore - that was declined yesterday. It does however still have a notability tag on it but so long as you keep up the good work adding reliable sources then the notability will soon not be in question. One small point though, the links to Target and Amazon will have to go - they are considered advertising, citing a book should be done using the ISBN number which Wikipedia will automatically recognise and link through to a special page where the reader can make their own mind up about which site they wish to look it up on. Good luck, kind regards, nancy (talk) 19:58, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

yossi —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tarablus (talkcontribs) 10:37, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello Yossi. Wikipedia's copyright requirements are quite strict and it is not quite enough for you to have permission, it also has to be proven that the permission is of the right type - this is because anything that is written on Wikipedia has to be released under GFDL which basically means that it is available for anyone to use anywhere they like either as posted or changed as they wish. There are two ways to confirm to us that the text has been released:
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the Atera site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." This will mean removing the existing copyright which states "All Rights Reserved ATERA NETWORKS 2007"
or
Obtain written confirmation that the text has been released to GFDL which should be forwarded to the email address "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org"
To be honest, in this instance I think that it would actually be easier to rewrite the content in your own words rather than jumping through all the copyright hoops. A word of warning though, even if the new article is not a copyvio then it may still be removed unless it meets our policies for notability of corporations and is properly sourced. Also as you are closely associated with the company you may want to leave it for someone who may have a more neutral perspective to write the article - if Atera meets the notability requirement then it surely won't be long before someone does just that. Good luck with which ever way you decide to take this & hope to see you contributing to other articles in the future too. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 19:02, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Shlomo Bolfen?

Hello Nancy,

I recently noticed there was finally a Shlomo Bolfen page. One of my friends in Israel told me that he, and his friends, had written it and as I was adding to it, since I met Shlomo in La Paz, Bolivia, the page was deleted by YOU!! What is your problem? Why does Wikipedia keep refusing Shlomo Bolfen based on the 1993 incident with the Bolivian government?! This is an outrage.

CSI speedy deletions

Thanks for the quick work. I've dropped a note into the CSI Project to get people to look out for mistaken speedy deletions as well as to check for copyright violation (I know I caught some a while back).

There appears to be a list here of ones that got deleted. Not sure what you feel about the situation but it seems better to remove the copy vio than to just delete the whole entry and I can restore them without the offending material. (Emperor (talk) 20:57, 15 March 2008 (UTC))

Absolutely agree. As far as I could see once the copyvio section had been removed from each of the articles the remaining content was a perfectly adequate stub which is why I chose to remove the copyvios and decline the speedies. I don't know what the background is to the link you gave above but I can't help but wonder whether the nominations were perhaps a bit pointy - looked to me like a case of "any excuse". Unfortunately I had to go and have a real-life in the middle of it all so I wasn't able to rescue all of them but I can't see any reasonable argument against reinstating the non-copyvio sections of the deleted ones. I wish you luck - I suspect you are going to need it.... Kind regards, nancy (talk) 21:09, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes I noticed you had a bit of a tug-of-war on at least one article I checked. I better gird my loins for this one (I'd also better look up how you do that too!!). Considering some were but up for speedy deletion because the copy being violated was actually on a Wikipedia mirror, one could read a few interpretations into this - best I can say is it all seemed overly hasty, which is grounds for reversing things.
As I say I have left a note on the CSI Project and unless there are other issues raised I hope to start working through the list later. (Emperor (talk) 14:07, 16 March 2008 (UTC))

You deleted my page

Can you explain this? On what grounds? Shlomo Dubnov —Preceding unsigned comment added by SDubnov (talkcontribs) 06:54, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Shlomo Dubnov was removed on the grounds that it was a redirect to a user page from the main space; the contents when I deleted it were #REDIRECT [[User:SDubnov]]. Before I deleted it I reviewed the history and saw that previously it had been a user page which had inadvertently been created in mainspace - likely though a typing error - and that some other helpful person had moved the content to its rightful place, i.e. your own userpage where it still is so whilst the page was removed the content is extant. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 07:19, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: You deleted my page

Thanks for the reply. How can this entry be made in such a way that it will be found or linked to from main space? I've put links to the full name from several other pages, and they are either inactive now or were removed. Would putting "compu-info-stab" in the page resolve it? I'm not sure what is the relation between space policy and entry names? Or should I create another user with the name "Shlomo Dubnov"? Thanks, Shlomo SDubnov (talk) 16:28, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

The only way that it can be found and linked as Shlomo Dubnov is to create an article of that name however there are a number of reasons why you should not do that. Firstly from what I saw of the content of the previous article you are not notable enough to have a mainspace article and it would probalby be deleted again quite quickly. Secondly editors are encouraged not to write articles about things they are closely involved with and are postively discouraged from writing autobiographies this is because if you are too close to a topic it is difficult to remain neutral. My honest advice is to keep your bio in your user space and if you want people to be able to look you up by name you would be better off somewhere like myspace or facebook. kind regards, nancy (talk) 16:29, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
OK, so you didn't take my advice..... and your bio got speedily deleted almost immediately by another admin. I must reiterate, if you want to promote yourself then Wikipedia is really not an appropriate venue. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 18:30, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

can you give me back the text of the page you deleted so I can improve it?

You deleted (without any discussion) the page I created, Kurashiki NET Program, and I do not have the text I need so I can improve it. Can you please give it back to. I am not sure how this works, but I didn't think anything reasonable got deleted without any discussion. PLease help me.

tokyoeslmerman —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.138.233.26 (talk) 23:50, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Not done I would normally be happy to fulfill such a request but as the page in question was deleted as an Attack page and having reviewed the deleted content again I am sorry but on this occasion I have to decline. It would not be appropriate to restore the page even in the context of userspace. Wikipedia is not a place for settling scores nor for subjective or personal opinion; I would suggest that if you wish to make your views about the program known you use a blogging site or similar. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 06:54, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello Lanesher and welcome. There are two issues you need to overcome with the article. Firstly it needs to be written in a neutral and encylopaedic way - the reason I deleted it just now was because it was little more than an advert. Secondly, you need to show the notability of the company using reliable secondary sources. For general guidance you might also like ti check out the page Your first article which has a lot of helpful information. Best of luck, kind regards, nancy (talk) 19:59, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Chopping out copyvios?

I was not aware that just chopping out sections of articles like Buck Hill Inn that violate copyright was standard procedure now. Over 90% of the article has been removed, and the references point to nothing that remains. The way the remaining paragraph is worded still has a hint of copyvio to it, but I haven't found it yet. DarkAudit (talk) 20:25, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

I don't think it is a particulary new trend - the policy has always said words to the effect of If some, but not all, of the content of a page appears to be a copyright infringement, then the infringing content should be removed. Unless removing the copyvio section would remove all context I would always choose to edit out the copyvio rather than delete the whole thing. You're probably right about the first para being copied from somewhere too but if I were you I wouldn't waste too much effort trying to find it - I think it is pretty clear what the result of the AFD is going to be... kind regards, nancy (talk) 21:17, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Leah Patterson-Baker

You have deleted an article that has so much notability it is wrong it has been deleted. The character in the show for 8 years, centre of storylines. One of the longest serving cast member, important to the show. I think a revert is in order, how many links do people have to post?

People actually put a effort into writing these articles, and making them reliable, and people can delete them with a click of their fingers. Get back to me please. Raintheone (talk) 07:36, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

As explained in the deletion summary, the article was deleted because a community consensus had been reached regarding whether this (and other Home and Away bios) merited their own article. Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brad Armstrong (Home and Away) for the related discussion. With kind regards, nancy (talk) 09:53, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
If enough sources are added to the article, can it be kept next time it comes along as created then? Or is it written in stone forever. Thank you. Raintheone (talk) 00:39, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
No, it is not set in stone forever. The situation is that if a recreation of the article is "substantially identical" to the one deleted as the result of the deletion discussion the the new article can be (and likely will) be speedily deleted again under the G4 criteria as "recreation of deleted material". I have reviewed the original deletion discussion and you are quite right to highlight sources/references as one of the key issues as the consensus was that the article(s) should be deleted because of "no verifiable sources showing real-world notability". So.... if the new article addresses these concerns there is still a possibility that it might get speedily deleted but if it was you would probably have grounds for taking it to deletion review. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 07:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Gavin Lee Image

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Gavinlee_marypoppinsmusical.jpg - You have marked this picture for speedy deletion, and I hope I have now put the right licence thingumy jigs on there now. I do have a copy of this picture in my own collection, but didn't realise it was copyright as it was given to me by Gavin. I know the picture is widely available and used for publicity purposes, so maybe you can sort out whether I've not put the correct licence info on there. I have to confess to not knowing a thing about picture licensing however much I read all the pages about it. Thanks. Crazy-dancing (talk) 12:30, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

I can see that you have updated the licensing information on the image & that is very helpful - thanks for that. However..... the use of it on the Bird College article does not qualify as fair use, you could argue fair use on a "Mary Poppins - London production" page but that is pretty much it - even on a Gavin Lee page you'd be on sticky ground as he's not dead so a free image could reasonably be obtained. Further to that there is really no fair use justification at all for using it on the page of a college he once attended - I believe therefore that the use of it on Bird College is a copyright infringement and it should be removed ASAP. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 16:19, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Response

Further to your comments from above, I was wondering how the situation would be if I saif that the image is used across the internet in relation to Bird College as well as Mary Poppins and also in the colleges own promotional materials both internet based and in physical media? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Crazy-dancing (talkcontribs) 16:31, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

It may be that the college has permission from the copyright holder to use the image or it may be that they are using it illegally. Either way it doesn't really help the situation as neither of those scenarios alter the status of the image on Wikipedia; the image is clearly copyrighted to Cam Mac/Disney and therefore the only license which can possibly apply on Wikipedia is fair use, and as explained above the use of it on Bird College cannot be justified under fair use. Sorry if this seems a bit harsh but Wikipedia's image copyright policy is (necessarily) very restrictive and, to the uninitiated may even seem illogical at times. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 18:40, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Removed prod from Billy Humphrey, bringing to AfD instead

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Billy Humphrey, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. I have nominated the article for deletion instead; the debate may be found at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Billy Humphrey, which overrides the need for a {{prod}} tag. I have explained my reasons for doing this in my nomination. Thanks! -- Atamachat 16:20, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Please don't delete my pages!

Please do not delete or edit any of my page again as they about me or my friends.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Naza1992 (talkcontribs)

I'll make you an offer. I won't delete pages you create so long as in return you make sure that they are about notable people. Do we have a deal? Kind regards, nancy (talk) 22:28, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Kurashiki NET Program

I really can't understand why you deleted my amendment. I wasn't promoting a POV, merely stating the fact that a blog about the program exists. This could be verified by following the link which you also deleted.

The original article is far more inaccurate. One of the conditions of employment listed on the official homepage is that you must be a native speaker of English. Something which the article would appear to contradict.

If you are not prepared to give a balanced view then you should delete the section completely. As it stands, it is nothing more than free advertising for Kurashiki's Board of Education. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shido this (talkcontribs) 10:20, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

A blog is not a reliable source but this is now largely irrelevant as per the consensus on the talk page the whole section has now been removed. nancy (talk) 10:44, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. Happy with that. Hopefully, this page will no longer create so much work for the editors. . Shido this (talk) 10:47, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Just an FYI, I blocked the above account as another sockpuppet of Kiwiinjapan1984 (talk · contribs). Cityhallnemesis (talk · contribs) is probably also a sockpuppet, but since their only mainspace edit was a good one, I left the account alone. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 16:26, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Untranslated datedumps

What do we do when somebody just dumps a load of untranslated incomprehensibility into another language's Wikipedia? Seems to me that ought to qualify for a speedy, since it doesn't make any sense in English. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:48, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I've tagged it as needing translation and am just going to do some googling to see if I can find any English information on the topic. If I can't get anywhere with it (at the moment I don't even know what language it is - presume something Scandinavian) I would consider a {{db-foreign}} but I'd like to give it a chance of life first. nancy (talk) 17:53, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Rigo Jancsi

Why are you deleting the start of an item "Rigo Jancsi", when it is referenced by another pastry "Dobos Torte"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Savolya (talkcontribs) 19:02, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I deleted this article because it had no content other than a {{hangon}} template which was as it was created. nancy (talk) 19:05, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Francois Allain of Brittany

09:05, March 22, 2008 Nancy (Talk | contribs) deleted "Francois Allain of Brittany" ‎ (A7 (bio): Real person; doesn't indicate importance/significance: & most of the article is about the history of the (nn) Allain family not Francois)

When you delete something, I wish you would talk to me about it before you delete it, that is what the talk pages are for. The person was made famous by a king of france, and he was also a french military officier.

Harrisonlatour (Talk) LaTour Genealogical Collection 13:04, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

When a user tags an article for deletion it is customary for them to also leave a note on the primary author's talk page to this effect. Looking at your talk page it does not appear that this was done in the case of Francois Allain of Brittany and I can only apologise on behalf of the original tagger. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 16:42, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
My bad. This editor has been through the speedy routine so many times that I guess I thought he would be aware by now that 90% of his articles are nominated for deletion straight away. No excuse for impoliteness :) andy (talk) 18:46, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Henry David

you just deleted my article and this is why is belongs as an encylopedic article. This is not my dog, i'm just writing an explination for all the lost dog sings around the area (litterally thousands of them) This is an unusual situation with a lot of breaking news occuring everyday (a low flying helecopter complaint in the police crime log, multiple police calls, and false sitings of Henry. All I'm trying to do with this article is make people aware of why there are so many signs in the neighborhoods and the story behind them. I personally don't care if the dog is found or not. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FindHenry (talkcontribs) 15:15, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

The article was a plea for the return of a dog called Henry and offered a $2k reward. Your username is FindHenry. What other possible conclusion could have been reached but that the article was an advert? nancy (talk) 15:22, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

The reason my username is findhenry is because this is the first article I have ever written on wikipedia, and the article seems like a plea because it was not do yet. I was just writing the contact info and reward 1st because it is the easiest info to find online, the other history of the story i'll need to look for in the newspaper, the original ad is on craig's list and that is were i'm taking some backround info. I have personally heard some crazy stories about the lunitic owners that I want to compile to one source, for example, they called the cops from JUST a tip on the phone, then later that day there were 5 police officers trying to catch this other dog IN IT'S OWN OWNERS FENCED IN YARD isn't that crazy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by FindHenry (talkcontribs) 15:41, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Can I make the article if i remove the reward and contact info? —Preceding unsigned comment added by FindHenry (talkcontribs) 16:28, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

From what you have told me I can't see where an encyclopaedic article is going to come from. What you have described is not suitable for Wikipedia because Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information and entries need to be notable outside a local context, verifiable, and been the subject of multiple references in reliable sources. Wikipedia is also not a soapbox - you mentioned in your first post wanting to "make people aware of what is going on", you should really be doing this on your own website or blog. Maybe launching straight in to creating an article is a bit of a big first step, how about you try editing a few existing articles to get the hang of this place and how things work around here; perhaps you could look at adding information to topics that you know about about already? What ever you do, good luck and I hope you find Henry!. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 17:33, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

alejandro san martin wiki article

hi nancy i ve been trying to create an article dedicated to my father who was a forme peruvian ambassador.he also contributed in various investigation projects and was the founder of Peruvian Center for International Studies (CEPEI) in 1980.(see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_Garc%C3%ADa_Say%C3%A1n#External_links) he was a very good friend of diego garcia sayan and many other people linked to international law studies in peru.

the reason i was trying to write about him , was because no one has ever written anything about him on the web.

i add some web links that would support what i really think he should have an article.

hi there, my name is hamzah mohammed and i am kindly asking you if you could please stop deleting my article about 'Hamzah Mohammed'. When you earlier deleted my article, i agree that it contained irrelevant information, but I was testing to see if it worked. Thankyou Very Much

baby j page deleted

hiya, the page that i made earlier about the music producer baby j has been deleted by you because of copyright issues? you found the same text on a website (abstract sounds, Baby J's record label) which is the text that i also used for this article. Baby J is my boss and i wrote the text, so i havnt commited any copyright offence? any chance i could have the page reinstated please? or can you advise me on what to do? thanks, emily. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Babyj333 (talkcontribs) 15:56, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello Emily. Wikipedia's copyright requirements are quite strict and it is not quite enough for you to say that you wrote the original, it also has to be proven that there is permission to release the original text - this is because anything that is written on Wikipedia has to be released under GFDL which basically means that it is available for anyone to use anywhere they like either as posted or changed as they wish. There are two ways to confirm to us that the text has been released:
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the Baby J site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article/page, and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." This will mean removing the existing copyright.
or
Obtain written confirmation that the text has been released to GFDL which should be forwarded to the email address "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org"
To be honest, in this instance I think that it would actually be easier to rewrite the content in your own words rather than jumping through all the copyright hoops. A word of warning though, even if the new article is not a copyvio then it may still be removed unless it meets our policies for notability of musicians and is properly sourced. Also as you are closely associated with Baby J you may want to leave it for someone who may have a more neutral perspective to write the article - if Baby J meets the notability requirement then it surely won't be long before someone does just that. Good luck with which ever way you decide to take this & hope to see you contributing to other articles in the future too. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 20:03, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I took that Photo!!!

I took the photo u gave me a warning for!!!!!! I took it on my mobile phone!!!! It is mine, and not copyrighted!!!!! It is 100% by me, therefore u had no right to try and delete it!!!!!!!!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris4925 (talkcontribs) 20:31, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

No one is disputing whether you took the photo or not. The message on your page refers to my tagging the article (not the image) St.Albans Abbey Photo for speedy deletion as it was clearly a test page and as opposed to an encyclopaedic article. In the future you may want to take a little more time to read the text of comments left on your talk page as it will prevent you jumping to hasty and incorrect conclusions. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 20:42, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for editing that Sharon to Rachel on the Fosca Painted page! I remember I was listening to Russell Brand's radio show at the time and his stylist Sharon was talking... Silly me. Dazzak (talk) 02:56, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

We've been here before haven't we and I don't see that anything has changed in the interim. Please desist from the edit war you are engaging in or risk the possibility of being blocked; a more productive and constructive alternative would be to take the advice other editors have given you and engage in dialogue on the talk page. I have references. there's NOTHING you can do.

Sorry, I have constructive REFERENCES and EVIDENCE. there's NOTHING you can "DO". Goodbye. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elijah2005 28 (talkcontribs) 13:20, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Well now. A reliable source citing that John Lennon now boils in a boiling vat of lava is something I would be truly interested in seeing. But seriously, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not somewhere for you to promote your own unique world view, and as it happens, there is something I can do which is to block you from editing, something which I will have no hesitation in doing if you carry on. nancy (talk) 13:27, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

My page being deleted

Hi! Im user Jingle111111 and you dleted some of my pages which were gonna actually be in a quiz about me in the end so pls dont delete them again it is not nonsense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jingle111111 (talkcontribs) 20:37, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello Jingle and welcome. The reason your pages got deleted is that we are here to build an encyclopaedia, not create quizzes about ourselves. If you want to create a quiz how about hopping over to somewhere like bebo or myspace - that's where quizzes belong. Kind regards, nancy (talk) 20:41, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Article does not appear at friends or when I deleted my browsers cache (and not logged in)

Hallo Nancy,

today I created an article about Coinside - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coinside

I have now the following problems: - when somebody else want to see the page then the article does not exists - when i am not logged in or when i deleted my browsers cache then the article does not exists

Could you please tell me the reason for it?

Thomas (ts1977) — Preceding unsigned comment added by tsb1977 (talkcontribs)

Good morning Thomas. What a strange problem. The article is definitely there and has never been deleted so that's nothing to do with it however the name is familiar to me - did you create it recently under a different user & perhaps spelled slightly differently? - I have been through my deletion logs and can't see it but perhaps it was someone else who deleted it so maybe you are looking under a different spelling? Are you trying to access it using the URL or are you searching from within Wikipedia? Is it still happening this morning? Kind regards, nancy (talk) 07:05, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi Nancy, thanks for your reply. Actually I am working in France and today, I used the purge function (Wikipedia:Purge) to refresh the page. It worked now here with my computer, even when I am not logged in. However my friend in Germany could not see the page. He had to use the purge function as well in order to see it. But he just used the search function for the article, and again, the page was not available. He purged again and it worked.
I am afraid that other users from other countries might have the same problems. Is it connected with the wiki-architecture?— Preceding unsigned comment added by tsb1977 (talkcontribs)
Thomas, I am afraid I am completely stumped - it seems to defy all logic! May I suggest that you try posting the question at the helpdesk as there are people there who know an awful lot more about the technical mechanics than I do and who may have an answer. I do hope you get it resolved, kind regards, nancy (talk) 21:14, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Why did you delete my page?

Why did you delete my page?! You are very mean and dictorial. I was creating a page for my friend so would you like someone to delete you page of denial.I,m sorry you felt that the Wikipedia needs true facts about things but that was a true paragraph. If you think my facts or opinions arent true just leave it alone.Don,t act like you don,t know what I,m talking about you did this March 29,2008.I,m trying to convince my friend that she is famous no matter what.Just leave me the hell alone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by StarDeshay (talkcontribs) 17:14, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi there StarDeshay. I think you should listen to your friend - she's right, she's not famous and that is why the article was deleted as it did not show why she was notable enough for Wikipedia. When she is famous then she might qualify for an article but until then you'd be much better off using a personal website to promote her. Good luck & kind regards, nancy (talk) 17:35, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
