Terrorism in country categories

edit

I saw you created the Terrorism in Columbia category a while back. A new user is upset by the use of the word terrorism and is removing categories from pages at random. I would appreciate it if you would take a look at, and consider reverting the user's edits to, East Turkestan Islamic Movement, Grey Wolves, and Kurdistan Workers Party. {{Oceania-mil-bio-stub}}

edit

OK, is it now entirely surplus to requirement? If it's still going to be used on a stub or two, it's not really doing any harm as an upmerged template. If it's "emptied" I can certainly delete it, though. Alai 23:05, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, not very quick on the uptake today. OK, I think the best thing is to make it a single-upmerged template (as I've just done), and stub by nationility separately. This'll be rather more useful when it can be split out, obviously... Alai 02:11, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Islam in Mozambique

edit

I prefer it this way. This is the way people used to do it. KazakhPol 02:34, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sounds good. :) KazakhPol 02:37, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

When reverting someone, consider giving a better explanation than "because it needs to be so". Piet | Talk 09:06, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

National Bank of Egypt

edit

You created a redirect from National Bank of Egypt to Central Bank of Egypt. I think that the two are separate banks. Could you delete National Bank of Egypt and then move the existing National Bank Of Egypt article (capital Of) to National Bank of Egypt? If you are not an editor, could you place {{db-author}} on National Bank of Egypt so that an editor will delete the redirect? --Eastmain 18:36, 17 January 2007 (UTC) Reply

Wikify template on Yekutiel Adam

edit

Hi, I am unsure why you added {{wikify}} to the article Yekutiel Adam. It does not have any sections because the entire article is a biography of Adam, talking almost exclusively about his military career. It would be fairly difficult to include sections without adding substantial information to the article. The article also has links, categories, etc. I will not remove the template without your reply, but please shed light on why you think the article is not wikified. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 13:43, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't have much time or interest at the moment to change the structure of the article, but maybe you can, as it does not require knowledge of Yekutiel Adam. If not, hopefully someone else can change the style quickly, although the article is not frequently edited. I remember there was another template specifically about style and structure, which I will place instead of {{wikify}} if I remember it. On a side note, can you provide a link to the template you made about Israeli military personnel? Not sure how that would work since there have been hundreds of Israeli generals, but it would be interesting to see anyway. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 14:17, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greg Olsen

edit

Thomas.macmillan said: Why was this page deleted? The player is a top prospect for the NFL Draft and definitely passes WP:BIO. He played college football at one of the top universities and is expected to be a very high draft pick.

I protected these from recreation on the advice of Hondasaregood, who pointed out that Kungfuadam had previously deleted the article for exactly the same reason as I did three weeks previously.

I'm perfectly prepared to remove perma-protection once something happens to him beyond just being a guy who "appears as though he may or may not be getting the chance to start out his football career", which apparently happens in three months time when the draft names come through. Until then it was just destined to be an article which kept getting deleted and deleted. Bobo. 05:39, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thomas.macmillan said: Please unprotect this article. A similar player (probably less notable than Olsen) passed AfD in October. See the discussion here.

For sure. That's page lays the argument out more persuasively than I thought possible. However, I will also inform the original deleter, Kungfuadam, that I am taking this action. Bobo. 06:22, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jamaal Anderson

edit

Thomas.macmillan said: I am glad that the right decision was made by the community per Greg Olsen. However, a similar decision needs to be made for Jamaal Anderson, which you also SALT'ed. He has similar credentials as Greg Olsen, as he played at Arkansas, a major program and dominated at that level. Not only that, he is expected to be a first round pick like Olsen. I caution you not to delete pages about players that will most likely become high draft picks. These players are notable and deserve their own pages. In conclusion, please reinstate this article and any other college football player articles that you have also SALT'ed.

Thankfully I have yet to deal with any other speedy deletion of sportsmen of this type, Thomas. I am glad you pointed me in the direction of Jamaal Anderson, and I will be happy to remove perma-protection as soon as I have finished writing this.

This is my fault for having looked through the speedy deletion candidates too quickly and made overly quick judgments at the wrong time regarding their status as Wikipedia articles. Having dealt with similar articles about several cricketers which have been either PROD’ed or SD-tagged I understand that having to take care of these does become more of a problem than it needs to be at times. I sympathize greatly with the situation. Thank you for directing me towards this article and I will make sure to alter the article as you state. Bobo. 16:39, 29 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
