This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Danny Guba, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.docepares-europe.com/Danny_Guba.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Speedy deletion nomination of Danny Guba

edit

Hello NXKMartialArts,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Danny Guba for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Crystallizedcarbon (talk) 17:12, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Co-op mentor

edit

Hi NXK. My name is Jethro, a coordinator and mentor at The Co-op. Welcome to Wikipedia! I wanted to introduce your mentor to you, theonesean, who can help you with your question about adding images. Sean should be coming by soon to help you get started.

Just to give you a heads-up, I did read over your profile where you had said, My aim is to increase awareness of the martial arts that I study and to promote the work and dedication of my teacher Supreme Grandmaster Danny Guba. I think it's great you want to provide more information on these topics, but please be careful not to use Wikipedia as a means to promote a subject. Articles and their content should present information about a topic neutrally and should reflect the coverage in sources like news articles, books, and academic research. I, JethroBT drop me a line 16:59, 10 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

NXK, hello! I'd be more than willing to help you out with adding some photos. Could you help me out by answering a few questions about what you want to upload?
What articles do you want to put the pictures on, and what are the pictures of?
Do you own the rights to these photos, or can you obtain permission?
Thanks, theonesean 03:33, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Danny Guba

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Danny Guba requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.   Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Danny Guba. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Hello. I am Diannaa and I am an administrator on this wiki. The article has beendeleted (for the second time). Prose you find online is almost always copyright, and cannot be copied here; it's against the law to do so. All prose must be written in your own words. There's more information about copyrights and how it applies to Wikipedia at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. Copyright law and its application are complex matters, and you should not edit any more until you have taken the time to read and understand our copyright policies. Further copyright violations will result in you being blocked from editing.

The second problem is notability. The subject is not notable enough, as Wikipedia defines it, to have an article. We require write-ups in reliable third party sources such as newpapers, magazines, or online publishers to establish notability. -- Diannaa (talk) 22:09, 10 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject Martial arts etc

edit

Hi NXKMartialArts,
It seems your start here at Wikipaedia (WP) has been a bit rocky, don't let it get you down, it's quite common. One thing I personally recommend for a 'newby' is to not be too quick to write a new encyclopaedia article first off. Personally I started editing as an IP for several years and didn't start a new page for a similar period. I think 'learning the ropes' is a good idea. If you are seen to make good edits across a range of articles, even if you exclusively edit martial arts pages, then you will earn respect and be more trusted, if you want to write a WP:BLP page about Guba again. (Assuming WP:Notability is met) You could check out pages related to... Hmmm ..... Project management for example, and either improve or maintain them. Like looking out for vandalism!

Your expressed wish to "promote the work and dedication of my teacher Supreme Grandmaster Danny Guba." as mentioned elesewhere, may make editors think that you are a Single-purpose account (WP:SPA). Some editors come to Wikipedia only to promote an idea, product, organisation, or many times themselves! (Don't write your autobiography here for example! Many do on their first edit!  ) The information at Wikipedia:Co-op/NXKMartialArts would probably be acceptable for your Userpage. (I'd suggest toning it down a little though)

By the way. I have spent many years studying martial arts too! (currently 'inactive' though.  ) I take an interest in most areas of martial arts, but have not edited in that area regularly. I own lots of books about many martial arts and have attended classes with several styles other than my own. I must admit I am not overly familiar with Filipino martial arts, but I haven't heard of Danny Guba. (Dan Inosanto and Jeff Imada, yes.) Martial arts can be a rather 'insular' area with its various practitioners/styles and schools existing quite separately and isolated from each other. In other words someone may be held to be the 'bees knees' of one style, or tells people he/she is, but no one has heard of them. ("Those who can do, those who can't, teach" perhaps?  ) I have personally come across a person that I trained with, and was a competent martial artist in Karate, Ju-jutsu and Judo (Black belts in each IIRC.) Then I saw them claiming, in a newspaper article, to be a 'master' of a particular ninjutsu style! (dubious!)

Hope this information is helpful. 220 of Borg 04:36, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Borg,<
Thank you very much for this, much appreciated! My apologies for my 'newbie' mistakes, I have to admit I have found it more difficult that I thought it would be to start editing/creating articles on Wikipedia but I fully understand the rationale behind why editors have removed my initial attempts at an article. I have asked my fellow students to amass online third party materials etc to show the credibility of why I am creating an article about Danny Guba so hopefully next time I'll get it right and can demonstrate why he deserves one.
I have changed my profile too as you're right that it may look like I am trying to only 'promote' rather than inform/inspire but I am not biased honest and I just want good solid knowledge to be available to the world!
Thanks again Borg.

Can I also suggest you visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Martial arts and specifically look at the Manual of Style section. Besides the copyright issue there were a few things that set off red-flags that might have worked against the article. My person chip is overuse of titles but there were others. Please also take care about the references when adding material to articles or writing a new one. I would also suggest going through the Article for Creation process which would avoid some of the problems.Peter Rehse (talk) 13:42, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Signing posts

edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. 220 of Borg 04:37, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Recreation of Danny Guba

edit

I don't think recreating Danny Guba was a good idea at all, when the page had already been deleted twice. >:-/ I had a look at a Google 'cached' copy of one of the deleted pages and your new page didn't look much different to me. I have edited it to make it a lot (IMHO) less 'advertisey', more neutral and less 'peacocky'. See my changes here. Though it has 'sources', it needs wp:footnotes added to it.

I assume good faith (WP:AGF) on your part, but you may need to read WP:Conflict of interest. ⊕ 220 of Borg 18:44, 12 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Borg,
Sorry I did change it and I was hoping it was a slight improvement but your changes are really good so thank you. I want it to be compliant but I still have a bit to learn as this is my first page on Wikipedia.
Thank you for improving the page.
