Chief Nyaroo (Astariko Onsomu Asuri Nyaroo: 1947 - 2001). Born in 1947 in a family of five, three daughters and 2 sons, Kisii County then relocated to Trans Nzoia County in 1967. After his relocation, he settled in Aruba village and started practicing farming as an ambitious young man. Aruba village is part of the expansive Sinyerere Settlement Scheme.
Mr. Nyaroo involved himself in various forms of farming that included but not limited to white corn, pinto beans, citrus orange, tangerine, tea and livestock. He later briefly joined politics as Cherangany official secretary of the Kenya African National Union (KANU) . He later on plunged into civil service under the provincial administration serving as an assistant chief and chief for Sinyerere sub-location and Sinyerere location respectively.
As a vibrant and visionary leader, Mr. Nyaroo together with other residents of Aruba, actively participated in a lot of community development initiatives including the establishment of schools, hospitals & dispensaries (Wiyeta Dispensaries, roads and bridges.Some of the schools that Nyaroo immensely contributed towards its establishment and eventual growth is St. Christopher's Secondary and Primary Schools Kitale. and Mr Nyaroo also served as Director of Kenya Tea Development Authority (KTDA) - Kapsara Tea Factory.
