Headless Horseman edit

Interrobamf is intent on moving The Headless Horseman to Headless Horseman to get rid of the definite article. To do so, he has moved a perfectly good DMB page to Headless Horseman (disambiguation). The Headless Horseman is simply a character in a short story and there seems no good reason for it to take the main namespace. What I should like is:

Though I could make the move this would cause an edit war and I don't do revert wars. Therefore, I should be grateful if you would take an objective view on this and make the moves if you agree. TerriersFan 08:00, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

AIDS Origin edit

Saw you reverted my input on AIDS origin section in the article on AIDS. By removing my attempt at balancing discussion you have strengthened the conclusion that the OPV hypothesis has been rejected and that butchery or bites are indeed the origin of AIDS. This is far from a closed issue, and the medical experts have a vested interest in slanting conventional wisdom away from the possibility that 20 million people have died from an honest mistake on their part. The Wikipedia article should not reflect such a bias.

In considering this mystery, the fact that no cases of AIDS were seen among 40 million slaves over 500 years is just as significant as the fact that no chimp tissue was seen in the limited sample of archival polio vaccines. I would urge you to revert to text that includes both relevent facts.

Bibó proclamation edit

The copyright controversy over "For Freedom and Truth" (and futile attempts to get it undeleted) are driving us crazy. Do you know of anyone here with a really solid, thorough understanding of copyright law who might be able to figure things out, instead of joining the crowd in simply rejecting the article outright? Tomb Raider music edit

Apparently there is a detailed, old version of this article that was deleted. The author would like his work back - aren't sysops able to get deleted text? --nkayesmith 21:32, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would like you to restore the old article Tomb Raider music. You can leave it on my talk page. Thanks. I might need someone to help me with the spelling of the article. The quality of informations contained by the article is pretty good, but i got to implicated with the subject and I need someone to sustain me. I also need to know if Wikipedia needs such an article. Links on "list of dog diseases" page edit

Many (but not all) of the links on the "list of dog diseases" page actually link to human diseases, but the overall page layout tends to indicate that the links are about dog diseases, which of course could be significantly different to the disease in humans. The "wiki project dogs" is starting to think about how to organise their pages. This may be relevant to the "wiki project medicine" because the two data structure may impinge and I feel that early liaison between the "wiki project dogs" and the "wiki project medicine" will be beneficial. It sounds like the "wiki project dogs" would welcome some support. There is some discussion on the "list of dog diseases" talk page, which you might like to follow and perhaps bring the discussion to the attention of others for a consensus opinion. Just to let you know edit

I have asked an admin to undelted the page World's largest domes and move it to my userspace so I can look at it. I'm just posing here because you were the deleting admin. The page is now at User:Royalguard11/WLD. This is releted to an AMA case I am working on, so it is not releted to any one admin. From what I can tell, the speedy-G1 tag was added by an IP about 2 1/2 hours after page creation. The article looks pretty legit to me, and just needs a little work and sourcing put into it. I'm hoping that this is all cleared up. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 18:57, 25 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Questions re: Monobook.js edit

Hi; in a search for help on the intricacies of Monobook.js, I saw your reply at Template talk:Js, so I'm hoping you can help me out.

On another wiki, I'm trying to rearrange links on the left sidebar nav menu, and also add "alt" tags (so to speak) for new options--the rollout descriptions when your mouse hovers over the links. To do this, I get the impression I have to alter MediaWiki:Monobook.js.

Let me explain by showing the original layout:

ta['n-mainpage'] = new Array('z','Visit the Main Page');
ta['n-portal'] = new Array('','About the project, what you can do, where to find things');
ta['n-currentevents'] = new Array('','Find background information on current events');
ta['n-recentchanges'] = new Array('r','The list of recent changes in the wiki.');

The layout I'm attempting to perform:

ta['n-mainpage'] = new Array('z','Visit the main page');
ta['n-recentchanges'] = new Array('r','List of recent changes');
ta['n-randompage'] = new Array('x','Load a random page');
ta['n-help'] = new Array('','Find help');
ta['n-policies'] = new Array('','Policies and guidelines');
ta['n-announcements'] = new Array('','Special announcements and news on current events');
ta['n-portal'] = new Array('','forums');
ta['n-faqs'] = new Array('','Frequently asked questions');

Now, my questions:

  • Do I need to add special letters after new Array(' as in the above examples? (I get the impression it isn't necessary, since 'z', 'r' and 'x' handle "Special:" pages... but thought I'd ask. The new links would not be "Special:" pages in this sense.)
  • Will rearranging those letters, as well as the link order (as in the second example) wreck (or wreck irrevocably) the text/software interface, and/or hamper site navigation? Can such changes be rolled back, if so? (I'm a sysop, but not sure what'll happen upon making such changes.) Or, possibly, do those letters need to be moved to "line up" with the new link order?
  • Are other changes necessary elsewhere in System Messages, say, on Common.js or anywhere else, in tandem with the above changes, to make the new navigation and hover descriptions work?
  • Can periods be removed from the end of the description lines; e.g., list of recent changes in the wiki. (period) to list of recent changes in the wiki (no period), and can semicolons be inserted between the words without causing trouble?
  • Lastly, am I just wasting my time, and this is something that can only be done by techs?

If you can help me out, it'd be great, and I'd be ever so appreciative. Assuming you can answer these questions, I hope you won't mind if I need to ask more. Or, if you can point me to a good link that'll tell me everything I need to know, or to another editor who can answer these questions, I'd be grateful for that too. Thank you. --Sasoriza 15:12, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: Help with Monobook.js - Yeah, I would like that, because I'm still having problems with it. Thank you much. --Sasoriza 21:12, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removed Folding@Home nomination edit

There was consensus for removing the nomination, which I proceeded to do. Apologies for not being able to involve you in the decision and execution - we had to put a stop to Records' disruptive behaviour, and removing the nomination was one step towards this goal. Also, thanks for keeping the collaboration going! Samsara (talk  contribs) 03:44, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

H605 edit

Could you let me know why you removed the article? I am a newer user and would like to fix the problem so that it won't happen again. I'm not sure if it was just too short and what I should do to prevent deletion, because I have just been adding pieces at a time when I get the chance. Take a look at HuWiki please… edit

…if you have time. I cleaned up some articles by hu:User:ß, mainly about medicines. It would do them good if someone with knowledge in the subject could correct the mistakes in them, if there are any. (Also, they need some more user-friendly sentences, I mean, most of their content is completely Chinese to those who aren't doctors. :) All of them are linked from ß's userpage. Also, please take a look at the stub hu:SSRI, it was created to avoid the same info being repeated in the articles of all SSRI-type antidepressants. Thanks!

weird vandal edit

Szia NCurse! Boldog karácsonyt és kellemes új évet kivánok! I wanted to bring to your attention a rather odd vandal-type user I've been noticing lately, his name is RadonX and he seems to have some serious issues with Slovakia. :) He's posted some really ridiculous stuff on Slovakia, like re-naming the country the Republic of Hungarian Mountain Slavs. (LOL!). I'm not quite sure what to do (as he keeps blanking his talk page), I figured it was a job for an admin. :) I hope you are well and having happy holidays! K.
