Speedy deletion nomination of User:MySourceNow/sandbox edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:MySourceNow/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 15:49, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, I have never made a wiki page before I will rewrite the article and eliminate the advertising wording MySourceNow (talk) 15:52, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

December 2023 edit

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you use Wikipedia for promotion or advertising. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 15:50, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:52, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi there I have never made a wiki page before, I was not trying to advertise at all, my apologies. Can I please have editing access again? MySourceNow (talk) 15:55, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
{{unblock|reason=I am trying to make an informational article on the business not advertise. I have never made a wiki page before so I didn't mean to make this mistake, I just didn't know. ~~~~}} MySourceNow (talk) 15:57, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I am gaining no compensation for my contributions. I understand I was block for being advertising. I will not repeat this offense, I honestly didn't know it is my first article and I didn't expect to get blocked at all, I didn't even know what I was doing was wrong until I got permanently blocked. If unblocked I aim to write an informational article on the temp staffing business, "SourceNow" this will be not remotely advertised at all, strictly informational to inform the public on this staffing agency.

Decline reason:

Despite your claim to the contrary, I have determined you do indeed have a direct conflict of interest (WP:COI) with regard to SourceNow and do indeed count as a paid editor (WP:PAID). The content you were contributing was blatantly promotional (WP:PROMO), too, some of the worst I've seen here. Thank you for acknowledging that you were indeed advertising, that makes it possible you may be unblocked to write about other subjects once you convince us you understand WP:COI and WP:PAID. Yamla (talk) 19:00, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Yamla, I have never written an article for wikipedia before so I apologize for any mistakes I made I truly had no intention of causing harm. I understand that you are claiming we have a direct conflict of interest, but I truly do not. I also already explained that I am gaining no compensation for my contributions. Therefore, I am not getting paid for this, hence not breaking the Paid-contribution disclosure. I am sorry for my mistakes, I have never done this before I didn't know I was violating anything. Please consider this and unblock my account. MySourceNow (talk) 15:32, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's very easy to see there's an Erika Hawn working at SourceNow, meaning you do indeed have a direct conflict of interest (WP:COI) and do indeed count as a paid editor (WP:PAID). As you have ineptly attempted to mislead us, I strongly oppose any future unblock. --Yamla (talk) 17:37, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Yamla,
I trust this message finds you well. My name is Jasmine, and I work alongside Erika at SourceNow. I'm stepping in to clarify our objectives, as it seems there might be a misunderstanding.
To kickstart the year on a positive note, our CEO, Jean-Paul, has expressed the desire for both himself and our organization, SourceNow, to have a Wikipedia page. We recognize the importance of accuracy and professionalism in this process and seek your expertise to navigate it effectively.
While your initial communication appeared somewhat stern, I hope to foster a positive dialogue. Our company, with over 20 years of experience, recently underwent a rebranding. Consequently, we aim to establish a Wikipedia presence to ensure accurate information about our history is readily available to those searching for our company.
As newcomers to the Wikipedia page creation process, we are seeking your guidance on best practices. Specifically, how do organizations and business leaders initiate the creation of Wikipedia pages? Furthermore, how can we ensure the accuracy of historical information and the factual representation of our leaders' influence?
It's crucial to note that our intention is not to sell anything on our page but rather to provide a reliable source of information about SourceNow. We are committed to complying with Wikipedia's guidelines.
For transparency, please find my LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jasmine-southerland-281b19126/ and feel free to contact me directly at 561-299-5477.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to your valuable insights.
Happy New Year,
Jasmine MySourceNow (talk) 18:20, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for admitting the earlier attempt to mislead us. You are confused about Wikipedia. This is an encyclopedia, not a business directory. Articles are written by independent third parties with no conflict of interest, not by businesses themselves. Please use your own marketing site to promote your company. Additionally, as this account has now been shared, it is considered compromised and WP:COMPROMISED applies. Fundamentally, this is the end of the line for your business to try to promote itself (or, as marketing departments claim, "establish a Wikipedia presence to ensure accurate information about our history") here on Wikipedia. --Yamla (talk) 19:34, 2 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
