February 2019 edit

Hello MyFriendCat. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:MyFriendCat. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=MyFriendCat|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. SmartSE (talk) 17:51, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  MER-C 17:09, 24 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hi there. I completely understand your hesitation--while I was asked on behalf of a group (Podium) who knows Culley Davis to create a page for him, I actually am not being (and will not be) compensated for any of those edits. I have never personally met or spoken with Davis, though as an American entrepreneur of some minor, but notable, regard, I think he does deserve a Wikipedia page, which is why I initially agreed to create the page. That said, I realize some of this information comes off as biased and overly flattering, which should obviously be changed. If unblocked I would love to be able to edit the information for Davis for objectivity's sake (also happy to allow another moderator or editor to make those changes), and would not use MyFriendCat for any other purpose except editing Wikipedia to its standards. Also happy to include on the talk page for this account that, for the Davis page, I was connected to someone who knew Davis to keep everything on the level. Thanks!

Decline reason:

Why were you approached by "Podium"? Why did they not have a group member come here themselves? I find it difficult to believe that you are just doing this as a favor and you'll need to go into more detail about your situation. I may be wrong but I'm not sure there is an administrator who will be willing to unblock you to continue to edit about Davis; if you want to edit about other subjects, please tell what they are. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 01:52, 1 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

And what about Sococo and BenevolentAI? SmartSE (talk) 22:56, 31 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
