Speedy deletion nomination of Michael T. Scott edit

A tag has been placed on Michael T. Scott requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Proposed deletion of Col. Archibald Dennison Scott III edit

The article Col. Archibald Dennison Scott III has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Admirable but not outstanding military career fails WP:MILPEOPLE

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Herostratus (talk) 04:04, 3 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Mtsflorida, I want to thank your for contributing this article. And it appears that Col. Scott served his country with skill and bravery, so it pains me to nominate this article for deletion. But as you may imagine we are inundated with many biographical articles! We can only keep those of people who are truly famous or otherwise especially notable. I hope this does not put you off from contributing articles and edits in future - we need good editors like you! Cheers, Herostratus (talk) 04:46, 3 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Consistancy edit

Hello Mtsflorida, Please try to maintain form consistency when making content additions in all articles within the project. Your additions should not include abbreviations and should be inserted into this part of the article in alphabetical order. Keep up the good work.Meyerj (talk) 11:25, 8 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

July 2010 edit

Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of previously published material to our articles as you apparently did to Mary Decker. Please cite a reliable source for all of your information. Thank you. CutOffTies (talk) 19:42, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by adding your personal analysis or synthesis into articles, as you did to Jesus, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Ian.thomson (talk) 00:33, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits.
The next time you violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by inserting unpublished information or your personal analysis into an article, as you did to Jesus, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Seriously, see WP:CITE, WP:RS, and also WP:NPOV. Ian.thomson (talk) 01:00, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Some tips edit

  • When copying stuff from one article into another, don't just copy the finished text from an article, but open the editing window for that article. When copying from the finished article, as you did in this edit to the article "God", it ends up not copying code for links and references, and requires cleaning up after.
  • Wikipedia cannot be cited as a source for Wikipedia (otherwise, someone could put some lie on one page, cite it on another, and then cite the second page for the first).
  • Do not mark an edit as minor unless it is grammar or formatting. Adding or removing content is never minor.
  • Please read this essay on identifying reliable sources, and especially this essay on how to actually cite sources. Saying the name of a book in an edit summary is not considered citing a source. The proper method is to place the reference in tags like this: <ref>name of book, author of book, page number, publisher</ref>, possibly with some sort of link like this: <ref>[http://books.google.com/linkforthebook/ name of book], author of book, page number, publisher</ref>. Either way will display as a footnote, the only reason they aren't right now is because I added <nowiki> tags. Ian.thomson (talk) 13:43, 3 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Patric john wayne.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Patric john wayne.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:06, 21 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Honda Shadow. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Biker Biker (talk) 21:13, 3 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

May 2014 edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of Soldier's Medal recipients may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • * [[Michael T. Scott, USA

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 21:24, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

October 2017 edit

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Michael T. Scott, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Chris Troutman (talk) 19:27, 27 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Your recent edit to Military imposter appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Karen Osborne Irwin edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Karen Osborne Irwin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 2A01:4C8:1406:EB35:7099:288F:DADF:1684 (talk) 21:50, 2 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
