== Re: User talk:Ioeth#entry for Gladiator, Inc. ==

I deleted the article because it qualified for speedy deletion under Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion. You might want to take a look at that, so that in the future you can better understand why articles can be immediately deleted like that. The article that you wrote, Gladiator Inc., at the time looked like blatant advertising (and was tagged as such by another user) and made no assertion as to why the company is notable; both of which are criteria for speedy deletion (G11 and A7, respectively). I meant no personal offense by deleting the article, as I was just following the policies and standards that Wikipedia has.

In the future, when you're constructing a new article, there are two things you can do that will help avoid having the article deleted until you are done. The first is to create the article in your userspace, like this: User:Mt330404/My New Article and work on it until it's ready to go into the main article space. Once you've finished it, you can click the "move" tab at the top and move it into the main article space. Pages in your user space don't fall under the same speedy deletion criteria as articles, so it gives you plenty of time to get the article just right. The other thing that you can do is to place {{underconstruction}} at the top of your new article. That places a message at the top of the article letting other editors and administrators know that you are currently building the article, and to give you some time to finish it. This option should only really be used when it will only take you a couple of hours to build the article. If it will take longer than that, create the article in your user space.

There are a couple of other important things to remember when creating a new article. All articles must assert the notability of their subject; that is, the article must explain why the subject is important enough to being included in an encyclopedia. This guideline can be found at WP:N. Once you've established the notability of the subject, you must cite multiple reliable independent sources in order to prove the notability. These can be books, newspapers, journals, or even reputable websites. Details on how to properly cite sources can be found at WP:CITE and WP:SOURCES. Once you've provided sources, you've fulfilled another key Wikipedia policy: verifiability. All information on Wikipedia must be verifiable through a reliable third-party sources, as an encyclopedia is not the place to publish independent research or thought. This policy can be found at WP:V.

I hope these pointers help you out in the future. In the meantime, I've restored your article to User:Mt330404/Gladiator Inc., which is in your user space, so you can edit it there until you're done. When you finish establishing notability and adding sources for verifiability, you can click "move" and move it back to Gladiator Inc.. If you don't have a "move" tab or can't figure out how to move the article back, leave a message on my talk page and I'll help you out with it. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy editing! Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Low res gladiator.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Low res gladiator.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:12, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of User:Mt330404/Gladiator Inc.

edit

A tag has been placed on User:Mt330404/Gladiator Inc., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:User:Mt330404/Gladiator Inc.|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. December 2007

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself, as you did with User:Mt330404/Gladiator Inc.. If you do not believe the article should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the article's [[Talk:User:Mt330404/Gladiator Inc.|talk page]]. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. I'll take it to Mfd then...although it would qualify for CSD User Doe ☻T ☼C 21:54, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Gladiator final jpg.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Gladiator final jpg.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Lee Camp

edit

Moving Lee Camp to Lee Camp (disambiguation) was the wrong thing to do and I have reverted the page move. If you were to disambiguate, then you would move the page to Lee Camp (footballer) and make Lee Camp the disambiguation page. However there is currently no other Lee Camp on Wikipedia, hence no need to disambiguate. If you do create a page for this other Lee Camp that you mentioned, please ensure they meet Wikipedia's notability criteria. If you need any further help with disambiguation, please let me know. Thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 23:25, 11 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
