Kendua edit

Hi there; I have put three tags on this article. It needs cleaning up; for instance, what country is it in? I am sure that to you this is obvious, but to me not so.--Anthony.bradbury 22:48, 27 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

June 2010 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to United International University. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. United International University edit

We appreciate your desire to improve Wikipedia by expanding the article on United International University. However, your additions read like an advertisement. Also you added some text that violates copyright as in the "Objectives and Aims" section which is lifted directly from the university's website here. This is a direct violation of Wikipedia policy and will always be reverted by editors and can lead to a block from editing Wikipedia if continued. The "Grading System" section is also problematical as it comes across more as trivia than something that increases a general knowledge of the school. If you have any questions or would like help improving the article you can reach me at my Talk page. Thanks, SQGibbon (talk) 05:30, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding the same information back into the article. It still reads like an advertisement and much of it is still in violation of Wikipedia copyright policy. Thanks SQGibbon (talk) 06:06, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
I would also like to see this article improved but you are currently going about it the wrong way. Before this goes any further please take the time to talk about it on the Talk page first. SQGibbon (talk) 06:22, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello Mrkshahin, I got your message so let's see what we can do. First you have to understand that copying text from the official website over to the article, even if you change a few words, constitutes a copyright violation. That's something that can be easily avoided. The bigger problem is that the stuff you were adding reads like you are promoting the university (which is what I meant by calling it an advertisement). For example if on the Microsoft page I wrote something like "Microsoft provides the best software available at the best price" that would be an advertisement for their products (also point of view and possibly original research). Let's look at one of the lines you added "It uses modern instructional techniques and technology to the best advantage so as to enhance and enrich students' achievements of their educational and career goals as well as socio-economic development of the country." This is the exact same kind of thing that I did in my Microsoft example. It's like you're trying to convince prospective students to choose this school over other ones.

One of the difficulties is relying on the University's website for information about the school. They are trying to promote the school over other options so of course they make themselves sound better. What we need to do is find what other people have said about the school. I don't know what newspapers are in the area but if any of them have written articles about the school's achievements or comparing them to other schools then that would be great to use. In the US we have a magazine called US News & World Report which publishes an article every year listing what they think are the best schools in the country. If there are respectable publications in Bangladesh that do something similar that would be a great source. Or if any graduates or professors have won major awards that would be good to add. This is all just to help get started.

Finally, since we want this to be open to anyone who wants to contribute we should discuss specifics on the Talk page of the article here. SQGibbon (talk) 06:52, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Grading system for UIU edit

Hey Mrkshahin, I was looking over the UIU article again and I have some questions. I understand the grading system in use by the University but I don't understand the other system that you called "Grading system in Course wise". Could you explain it? Do other universities use the other method? What's the significance to which system a school decides to use? Thanks, SQGibbon (talk) 01:34, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Copyright problem: Udichi edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Udichi, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. While not a word-for-word copy, the article is largely a close paraphrase and needs verifiable permission from the copyright holder or rewritten in your own words. VernoWhitney (talk) 21:39, 30 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:UIU Campus.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:UIU Campus.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 00:05, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Elink's.jpg edit

The file File:Elink's.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused personal photo. Out of scope.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 04:40, 23 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
