Image copyright problem with Image:Kgec vc1.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Kgec vc1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. J Milburn (talk) 20:40, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Kgec logo.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Kgec logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:56, 8 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

cleanup on Kalyani Government Engineering College edit

In response to your question, here's what I'm seeing that I'm spotting that to me still needs cleanup in the article:

  • "College Emblem & It's Significance" - Images in the body of an article should not have forced size; but the image should be in the infobox, not in the body of the article. The text should be moved to a less prominent part of the article, and purged down to just the core relevant wording (the first two sentences aren't necessary, while the last sentence is pure marketing content).
  • "Societies" - Not formatted per standard Wikipedia guidelines, and space-holder sections are not permitted under Wikipedia guidelines.
  • "Global Alumni Rollouts" - section is poorly named, and is promotional in content (listing other companies in order to add credibility to another is pure PR/marketing). Few references are cited, and the section utilizes "weasel words". If a source is available, it's adequate to state what industries graduates go into, and remove the specific company names. Leaving them effectively requires the keeping of the cleanup tags.
  • "Notable Achievements by the Students & Alumni" and "KGECian as Top of Company" - as previously pointed out, most if not all of the individuals listed are not notable per Wikipedia guidelines, and should be removed. It's possible to list notable achievements with sources, while not listing the individual names within the article (the reference will point to a source where the names could be found, for those who want to know). Leaving the names in goes against Wikipedia's notability guidelines, as well as appearing to be promotional content for the individuals. Again, leaving the names in mandates a cleanup tag.

Some of these issues did not exist when I first commented on the article's talk page, so I hadn't been able to mention them earlier; while other issues were previously mentioned but have not been resolved.

I've also requested that other editors who are more frequent contributors of University and College article content take a look at this article, as they could provide more specific suggestions for improvement than what I can provide. I'm hoping that someone will take a look soon to provide more input. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 23:13, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:KgecLogo.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:KgecLogo.jpeg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
