Your edits to Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit edit

Hello Motorlover98. Please stop adding unsourced information to Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. Of the references you give, [1] does not give any actual lap time, and [2] actually contradicts what you are saying, and makes no mention of the time which you claim was set in an Indycar. This edit summary [3] was also highly inappropriate as this was an error you introduced yourself.

If you are new to wikipedia, see the below links for useful information. A7V2 (talk) 01:03, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

And of course I should add: the lap record refers to lap records set in races, not unofficial times. A7V2 (talk) 01:04, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Why are you making this personal? What do you hope to achieve by lying about me in the edit summaries? Please see Wikipedia:Civility and Wikipedia:No personal attacks as this is not conducive to cooperative editing.

You have still not provided a source for your claim. Where did this time of 1:17.005 come from? Note that Wikipedia has a policy against original research and instead relies on what is published in reliable sources. If you cannot provide a reliable source for your claim, then it simply isn't suitable for inclusion. A7V2 (talk) 03:28, 27 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi A7V2 I’m a new user and am learning Wikipedia. It’s disappointing you have divided to attack me I don’t understand why I made minor edits to the page as you had made some spelling mistakes. As for editing the lap records table. Sorry I made a mistake as said above I’m a new user. My last update I made was to the history of Phillip island gp track which was I made not to the table So I’m confused why you have continued to attack me (maybe as your angry ) I don’t know There are pictures online showing the lap time and there are arrivals showing the indycar at Phillip island which I included but you keep deleting So I’m at a loss as to why your attacking me and delete something which I thought would be or interest to people looking up Phillip island ? Thanks Motorlover98 (talk) 20:44, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sorry now I’m making spelling mistakes as I’m abit upset Motorlover98 (talk) 20:45, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if you legitimately feel attacked or if you are acting the fool but I will assume you are telling the truth. I am not attacking you. Your edits were not suitable for the reasons already mentioned so I reverted them, it's really nothing personal.
Your edits which you described as "fixing spelling mistakes by A7V2" were not as such, and so are frowned upon (and could themselves be described as an attack). For example this edit [4] consisted of only adding content. In case you didn't know, on Wikipedia every edit is kept in the article's history so it is easy to check if your edit summary matches what you did.
As for the lap time, nothing you added to the article proves it. I also tried to find something myself but was unable to. If you saw it online, please let me know where you saw it and we may be able to put it back in the article. A7V2 (talk) 21:55, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Test Motorlover98 (talk) 22:39, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi A7V2 I’m not happy with the way you have gone about this but I’d like to move forward and work together as I feel the information provided is history I have attached some information below on what I have written maybe we can come up with suitable wording ? (It’s not letting me add the URL links to references on here) Thanks Re spelling error I corrected was Philip I changed to Phillip

In late October 2018 Mathew Radisich drove his 2011 spec conquest racing IndyCar during testing at the Phillip island Grand Prix track as a part of unofficial practice day, it was reported a Lap time of 1:17.005 in unofficial practice was set. However as this time was not set during a race meeting, it does not count as a official lap record.

In 2019 the S5000 Australia competed a pre-season test at Phillip Island, with Thirteen cars rolled out onto the Circuit, including Formula 1 legend Rubens Barrichello.

Hi A7V2 I have edited the page again including links to the lap time set in practice. The indycar shown in articles at Phillip island and links to s5000 at the track too. I hope this is suitable this time. If there is anything unsure please chat to me and we can re edit if need as I’d rather not have all of what has been written deleted if the questions only relate to one part ? Thanks Motorlover98 (talk) 02:52, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi Motorlover. Thankyou for being more communicative. I don't particularly care either way if you are happy or not. The purpose of Wikipedia is to collaboratively build an encyclopedia, not make everyone happy. Thankyou for now making an effort to provide a source for your claim. When you add something to Wikipedia it is your responsibility to provide a source when asked, and any editor may remove unsourced content (see WP:BURDEN), and its important not to take this personally.
You are seriously testing my patience with your denial of wrongdoing with your edit summaries. You corrected Philip to Phillip in one edit, yes, but this error was your own. However in the edit I linked above (this one) you say you are correcting a spelling error I made. I don't understand what you hoped to achieve by doing this but I will move on.
As for your latest edit, it is much better. Unfortunately, a context-less photo is still not enough to satisfy WP:Verifiability. I very much question whether this is a reliable source as it is just a photo of someone's computer screen. Believe me when I say that I think this would definitely be a worthy addition to that section of the article, but only if a reliable source can be found, which I wasn't able to find myself. The content regarding S5000s is probably not noteworthy enough for inclusion, however. There have been countless tests at Phillip Island and the only reason a few are mentioned is that the times set were lower than the existing lap record, but this doesn't seem to be the case for the S5000 test. If you disagree, note that the onus is on you to gain consensus for the addition (best done on the talk page Talk:Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit). I would suggest a better place for this content is probably 2019 S5000 season. So I'm going to revert your edit but note that if you do find a better source the old version of the article can still be found through the page history, with the version with your edit being at this link. Thanks. A7V2 (talk) 07:27, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hi A7V2 to collaboratively build Wikipedia is to delete ? Wouldn’t you edit the post I put up to collaboratively build ? I.e take the time out of the post for the indycar?

I have put my replies in brackets below Re As for your latest edit, it is much better. (thank you ) Unfortunately, a context-less photo is still not enough to satisfy WP:Verifiability. (So your advising it needs context to the picture? ) I very much question whether this is a reliable source as it is just a photo of someone's computer screen. (A computer screen with all the data from the lap The track stated on the screen and the time, it was also posted from the day of the test)

As for the s5000, wouldn’t the two tie in? I.e the s5000 championship page and Phillip islands page as the series claim to “break track records around Australia “ made several times in media .

Hi again Motorlover. I'm still not convinced that your addition holds up to Wikipedia:Reliable sources. That said I'm not going to be the one to remove it, and what you've done is very much an improvement of the first time this was added to the article. I will tidy up some of the wording/formatting though if needed. As for removing just the time, if I did that then what would be the point of mentioning it at all? As I said before there have been countless tests done at Phillip Island, the only reason to mention them in that section is that the time is lower than the actual lap record.
And as for S5000s, until they actually break the lap record (or if they had been under the record in testing and there were sources for this) then I don't think it's needed for the article. See WP:CRYSTAL as to why we should not speculate on the future (since we don't know if the S5000s will set the lap record at Phillip Island). Finally, I do realise you are new to Wikipedia so I am sorry if I've given you a bad impression. I don't link to policy and guideline articles on a whim, I put the links in so you can read them and be better able to contribute. Thanks. A7V2 (talk) 22:55, 31 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi sorry to hear you feel that way I simply wanted to add facts about Phillip island gp track and I feel like I have been targeted by A7V2 for some reason. Rather than talking to a new user like me she/he attacked which is very unfair and I feel bullied now. I made edits to the page as A7V2 had made several spelling mistakes which I fixed under minor edits The lap record yes I made a mistake I am a new user sorry but I corrected this and added to history not in the table of records There are pictures online of the lad of 1:17.005 but A7V2 seems to be upset and continues to attack me ? Thanks

Hi I have tried to discuss any issues with A7V2 I have also re edited the page noting the questions A7V2 has raised and tried my best to show more quotes from outside articles and pictures. If you also have any questions or things I can improve on I’d be great full as I would like to add history to this page. Thanks
